He's spot on, it would be insanity for Gerrard to take this job, and it's insanity for Rangers to offer it to him.
I'm not sure he'll ever recover managerially when he is inevitably hounded out of the club, it'll be another expensive mistake.
It's crazy how badly the Rangers reboot has been handled...

It's a concern that you don't expect your board to be more capable of identifying and securing a manager than a bunch of randomers on the Internet.
-------------------------------------------------------------
That's not the point.
The point is if a bunch of randomers on the internet or anyone else for that matter are going to criticise the Rangers boards choice then the least they could do is present some sort of reasonable alternative.
Otherwise the criticism is a bit hollow.
Its very easy to be critical.
It is clearly much harder to identify a decent candidate for the Rangers Managers job.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Nonsense.
I know that Russell Martin is rubbish for example.
If I saw him playing down the park, I don't think I would criticise him. But he's a professional footballer and I expect him to be capable. He might even be marginally better than me at centre-half....although I'm hindered by the fact that I have to wear specs.
Same applies to the board at rangers. I expect them to be able to identify candidates for the job of manager...even if you can't.

I have to respectfully say "baws".
The board and the director of football are there to run the club and as such should identify and "chase" targets.

Well he has taken it and he will be starting over the weekend.
I'll give him a chance and await the investment to help his cause
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Ok, obviously any fan is gonna support the new guy until they have a reason not too, but lets say there is some big out of the left field investment in Rangers.
Is Gerrard really the guy you want spending that investment?
All I know is if I was in a your position, with as many missteps as there's been so far i'd prefer some of that investment to go on a proven manager who could build a solid platform for you's to mount a challenge over the next few years.
It's got the whiff of smoke and mirrors about it to me, dangle a big name player and the numpties will buy the season books again.

You can’t use that simplistic view or Pedro will be wheeled out to show that the bears will buy every season book anyway and there’s a long waiting list for this who don’t.
No problems on that front 👍

We also don't know in fairness who they have and haven't approached. One thing they do deserve a bit of credit for is the fact that the search has been watertight, the first anyone knew of Gerrard was last week despite him being seen at the old firm game about a month before. Clearly talks have been ongoing for a while and no one suspected a thing, so chances are there have been several other candidates who we have spoken to and it hasn't been the right move for either party.
I can't really criticise them for not going after certain individuals given there is every chance they did go for them and were knocked back.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I agree with this and even if Gerrard is the boards preferred candidate I bet they are not impressed that it has been leaked to the press.
The board have given themselves 6 months to look for a man so whoever they get will be backed by the fans as he/she will be Rangers manager.
