Erik is a United fan so that destroys your theory.

It is because of Mourinho. Mourinho was his hero United coming back to establish themselves as the dominant force in England forced him out and finished him as the elite coach he was after going to Madrid.

I just assumed it was because of Mourinho. If it isn't then wow, I wonder what Man Utd did to him lol.

Lukaku spent one season at Chelsea in which he was too young to be given more than a handful of playing opportunities. He then had two successful years on loan with two different PL clubs before deciding he didn't want to return to Chelsea and left permanently. Where's the failure there?

Kakuta failed because Chelsea gave up on him and let him leave. Chelsea never gave up on Lukaku, they wanted him to stay and be a part of the squad. He didn't, he chose to leave.
