I was one of the old skool 606 users on there - 'Premkings'. Not a regular thread poster though.

I would often go on there to see the reactions after match results - whether my own team or rivals . No different to folk on here nowadays haha.

Anyways, i've liked this site from early on - after the old 606 closed down. The others were poor imitators, and i never even thought about joining them. I was looking for the next best thing - and read about this place, and so i joined.

I like the simplistic similar layout to this site. Has a healthy amount of regulars on here and it best honours the original.

And the admins are cool, they just get on with it.

This is basically a carbon copy of the old 606 but without that ridiculous rule where you have to wait three minutes after posting before you can post again.

No seriously... this site is kind of fun. its fairly slow though in terms of content bar for some strange reason spurs banter.

there's the filters and the bad language tut tutting thing..



I won't comment much on sports witness, theres an agenda there to make money not be a fans site.

I have to put my hands up and admit i moderate the Liverpool board on not606. Theres a big drop off in contributors across that site but theres a good set of newcastle, spurs, and Liverpool lads and a few everton as well. The spurs board would be loved by the spurs fans here cos they are up themselves and ban people ofr even commenting. frankly no606 was a mess originally cos it was the wild west. the owner indulges a lot of people in what he tagged on as "general chat" and such

I will admit they all delight in outdoing the hound on not606.

I seem to remember that, because you could swear on Not606, everyone just swore all the time, without really saying anything worthwhile.

Sport Witness began as a forum but I think became more of a news site (and I seem to it remember it being all but unusable due to the number of ads).

This one captures the spirit of the old BBC 606, and not just because it looks a lot like it - the same irreverent sense of humour and mild to moderate lunacy live on here as well

It's a shame this place isn't really advertised much as I reckon it could take off like the old 606 did. If everyone else on here is like me they dont go around telling anyone about it either.

As is is someone will probably stumble across this weird virtual ghost town in about 30 years.

Have I seen SportsWitness quotes as a source in the media?

Not sure if I imagined it.

I send links to some good articles to some of my friends and they like it but don't join unfortunately. Having said that I do quite enjoy it being quite a small community. I talk with people on here more than I do with some friends and I would miss it if it went to be honest. There's a lot of women in my office so good to be able to talk football during the day.
