But you could technically argue the exact same argument for Arsene Wenger, won a couple of PL & FA cups and did nothing for about 15 years after.
How many cups did Wenger win in total? Must have been around 5 aswell?

I actually have absolutely no problem with that. In my opinion Wenger was a genius but he rightly cannot be compared to the likes of Fergie, Jose, Pep because at the end of the day he did not win trophies which was what he was expected to do.
He was not appointed to save the club money or make bargain purchases.

How come nobody ever says Ancelotti is a cheque book manager? managed Milan at its peak, Real Madrid, Bayern, PSG but still has less trophies than Pep but has managed in 24 years as compared to Pep?
Arrigo Sacchi managed possibly the best club side before Peps Barca, was he lucky he had good players? Was Fergie lucky that he had the best budget and could cherry pick the best players?
