The internet just gives these people access to far too much information. That saying - a little bit of knowledge is a dangerous thing - rings very true.

Conspiracy theories are peddled and believed by Nut Jobs.

However, I do think that this whole, 'Trump has Covid and it hasn't hurt him' charade is nonsense and a Republican plot to proliferate the pandemic worldwide and to disrupt the US election process.

I understand people who are interested in conspiracy theories. I work with somebody who is interested in conspiracy theories because they enjoy the nature of somebody giving an argument to something that could be proved true/hasn't been discovered as yet or something along those lines.

One thing I personally can't do with is people that try and argue against/back up an argument using a conspiracy theory. I always say, it's called a conspiracy theory for a reason, so treat it as what it is until it is something different.

Somebody that I know is like that with the conspiracy theories that surround the 9/11 terror attacks.

He’s actually very high up in the anti lockdown protest movement. Along with Jeremy Corbyn’s brother he’s one of their main dudes

One of my kids is at med school. One of the tutors is considered a CT but by many of the students.

I met him and he is a very intelligent bloke. Who was a medical practitioner etc and has a PHD etc

He has written books on aluminium in aerosol sprays etc and even on polyester (or nylon I forget) and the effects it has on people. I checked some of it out and it's fascinating and I'm not sure he is a CT nut.

I get that there are many theories that are fascinating, I think that's what gets most people into conspiracy theories in the first place. But a conspiracy theory is different to a medical theory, hence why it's called a conspiracy!

My degree was in English and American Literature. One of the most popular course units was Conspiracy Theories in American Culture. It was very popular and, alas, I didn't take it as an option. They looked at JFK and Roswell etc, popular culture like The X-Files and novelists like Don Delillo and Thomas Pynchon. I'd love to do it now!

Yeah I get that. I suppose my point was this guy is considered a CT nut. Not just by some of the students but also by some of the other staff from what I gather.

I'm not sure he is. His arguments are quite considered and articulate

Very much so, he keeps getting kicked off FB and Twitter.

I feel like you could uncover some interesting things from conspiracy theories depending on where you are reading. When you're taking knowledge from somebody from Facebook however, that's the kind of theories to avoid.

Same one's as those who believe a "second ice age" will hit the planet because Britain is about to "endure its worst snowstorm in November" every year. Same picture of a man walking his dog, specifically a jack Russell with a red lead. See it every year. Clowns.

It's not a method of control, which makes you an idiot.
