Well, I for one am not scunnered with Dubai. I think it was ill judged but then folk thought that about me when I went to Sardinia in September during 10/100k times.
I can't believe it wouldn't have been booked with cancellation negotiated so it can't be the money? My own thought are that it was desperation to repeat what has worked very well before and try one last thing to recover the league. Of course that was fckd from the start by losing at Ibrox.
its more than just not liking Lennon, his comments are a threat to the game as a whole.
Questioning isolating the players and staff when one of those has infact now tested positive. That frankly is madness and points to a lot of doubt in celtics so called leading protocols.
If celtic had their way then the player that tested positive would not have been isolating and potentially spread it to the rest of the squad and that of Hibs and Livi.
No if no further player tested positive i could almost accept him having a rant about it, all be it a dangerous one casting doubts on self isolation

Fair enough - I havent done a survey of Celtic fans so cant say what the typical feeling is with any certainty.
My general impression was that Dubai was pretty much overwhelmingly seen as a bad idea given the situation we are currently in. And the fall out from it has really just reinforced the idea that it simply wasnt worth the risk.
In all honesty the beers are just a bit of a sideshow element to it all. But it doesnt really help with public perception that it might have been, as Lennon himself said, about R&R rather than elite athlete training.

No idea what the test protocols are? I know early days the gov were not accepting multiple subsequent -ve results wiping out a +ve despite there being a known false positive rate that statistically EVERY team must have encountered.
His comments go beyond Celtic.
He's said that the rules on isolation are politically motivated and not a public health issue. At a time when our NHS is overrun, front line workers are really toiling and cases are at the highest than at any time it's a really dangerous statement to make.
It's the kind of statement that could see the government having to clarify that it's absolutely vital people isolate if they have been in contact with someone who tests positive. It was a really unnecessary and stupid comment to make. Believe it or not COVID is not a stop the 10 conspiracy and the rules have been in place for nearly a year.

I think the only ones who had to isolate were because of being close contacts to Julien who tested positive rather than any travel corridors.
If it was to do with travel corridors being backdated surely the whole squad and staff would have to isolate, the only ones who did were close contacts and obviously one has since tested positive.
Either way though if that's what he meant he should have stated that. He's said Celtic have been restricted by rules which are politically motivated rather than on health grounds, and that nobody has COVID (even though 2 players have it).
It's a really strange comment to make - particularly as in this case the rules have actually helped Celtic. If those players didn't have to isolate there's every chance it would have spread through the squad given 2 now have it.

I’m talking about the politically motivated point rather than just the isolating point. As ever, there’s rumours as to how that isolation has been determined and would back up his stance-if they were true, which I doubt.
But politically, I think the government want to put as far as big a gap as possible between them and Celtic.
Neither come out of this very well btw.

I don't see the relevance of the travel corridors though POV. The only reason for players isolating was because they were close contacts of Julien, who tested positive. No one ever suggested Celtic had to isolate because they had been in Dubai, if they had then all 49 people who went would be in isolation for 10 days and they weren't.
He made a number of comments that are factually inaccurate, such as no one having COVID when in the same presser he said 2 have it. I just think it was a completely irrational and illogical rant that might need clarification from bodies on the isolation point to remind people it's absolutely essential you quarantine if you come in to contact with someone who tested positive.

He did specifically say the 10 players and 3 staff being forced to isolate was ludicrous.
They were forced to isolate because one had covid, nothing to do with travel bans backdated or otherwise
You'll do well to find many Celtic fans that don't feel embarrassed by his comments today.
He's blamed everyone but himself and the board, also being just 5 days after Lawwell's apology or attempt at one.
I had no issue with them going to Dubai for a training camp, there's currently 5 clubs over there just now doing the same, not to mention the British Athletics team.
What i had an issue with was when the situation was getting worse in late December and on the back of an OF game, it should at least have been re-visited but at most, someone should have been there to ensure all players trained, sat at the pool, went to dinner and then back to the rooms.
No caught bevying in the afternoon, no dancing on the way to the pool, no large groups watching fitbaw on the tele.... yes, no fun but sadly that's what had to happen and in the end we came back with the ultimate of fluck ups in terms of a positive case and then 16 self isolating.
16 did seem excessive but for all we know Julien was close to the players and coaching staff on more than 1 occasion for more than 15 minutes but going by Lennon's comments he feels that's the part that's been politicised, a punishment for going basically.
I've no idea if that's the case, wouldn't put it past the SG going down that route but i wouldn't blame them either, we deserved it for sheer stupidity.
This is the end of the road for Lennon, he knows it, he's coming out swinging.

Pretty much agree with everything other than the possibility that the number isolating was excessive as one of them has actually tested positive.
This action has actually protected the squad from potentially worse damage. Should be praising that decision not criticising it.

I have to agree. I'm astonished at the very low level of positive tests at a lot of clubs. Given the level of false positives, its astonishing that some clubs have little or no positives.
As for Lenny. He needs to be sacked immediately. He comments about isolation being ludicrous is a shooting offence never mind a sacking one.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Any chance he’s talking about their reasons for backdating the need for isolation when returning from a country, something that I haven’t seen them do before?
As far as I’m aware, they always give you a few days notice before removing a country from the travel corridors.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I think the only ones who had to isolate were because of being close contacts to Julien who tested positive rather than any travel corridors.
If those players didn't have to isolate there's every chance it would have spread through the squad given 2 now have it.

not just theirs but potentially hibs and livi.
the rules have done exactly what they are meant to do and protected people. how he can be angry at that is unfathomable and dangerous.
It kinda begs the question, had he had a few drinks?

HE specfically mentioned the number of players and staff having to isolate and that was due to one of them testing positive nothing to do with backdating. Not even sure what you mean by that.
There have been plenty of occasions when people have been asked to isolate when returning from a country from X date and if you have recently returned before that date, especially early on. If thats what you are meaning
----------------------------------------------------------------------
When they remove a country from the travel corridor, they announce that it is being removed at a date in the future.
With Dubai, they backdated the need for isolation. I’ve not seen either that happen before. Seemed a bit out of place.
He didn’t mention anything specifically, so everyone is speculating as to what he means. It’s also pretty wild to suggest that as a result of what Lennon has said tonight, then folk aren’t going to take the need for isolating seriously. I think we’re jumping the shark a bit there.
No one is taking him seriously on anything right now, but they’ll focus on that?!

And exactly under what clause in his contract would anyone suggest he gets summarily dismissed?
Fwck me, we all want rid of him quick enough but he's a spokesperson for the club as part of his role. You can't just up and sack him for embarrassing himself.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
True, most managers get the sack for simply losing a few games
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Indeed
Some manage for years not having won a thing.

These type of rash, illogical outbursts were typical of his end days at Hibs.
I think all we are seeing here is a condemned man lashing out at all and sundry.
Pleasing.

Wouldn’t you bears prefer he kept his job though as opposed to us going out and getting someone better like maybe last time?

It honestly wouldn't worry me what happens now.
The rebuild facing Celtic in the summer is a tough task for whoever takes charge.
And i can't see Celtic chucking money at it.

I would love him to stay in place and long may it continue.
What he can't be allowed to do is use a platform to say that being forced to self isolate was in his words ludicrous.
That's just dangerous because although as I have said above the majority of Celtic fans aren't listening to him there are still some who do

Pretty much agree with everything other than the possibility that the number isolating was excessive as one of them has actually tested positive.
This action has actually protected the squad from potentially worse damage. Should be praising that decision not criticising it.

I've not seen it aside from the 30s clip doing the rounds but I saw a quote where his words were something like 'deemed to have tested positive'? Seemed a strange choice of words when I read it. Wonder if there was some doubt about it? Not sure what the deciding indicator is so can't speculate even!
No idea what the test protocols are? I know early days the gov were not accepting multiple subsequent -ve results wiping out a +ve despite there being a known false positive rate that statistically EVERY team must have encountered.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I've seen you mention this point before mate.
He really has brought this on himself.
