Already told you how to deal with the debt it's simple.

SevUK?

Also an option.

Genuine question though if every country is in similar situation. Then why not a global debt write off?

----------------------------------------------------------------------

I’m not sure every country is in the same position at all. Pretty sure they’re not.

Even never really understood this either. Who is the planet in debt to? Martians?

I suspect the answer to your question though is probably something about keeping wealthy cvnts wealthy.

I'm just too lazy to do anything about it. Here, someone else form a resistance, will you?

I’d read/heard that the 1% rise would cost £500 million as well-not sure what it was on.

There’s a real concern from what I gather about PTSD in NHS workers once things start to calm down.

Unless they had offered something crazily high there would always be a debate about it being enough. The profile they’ve rightly had over the last year meant that going in with a 1% offer was always going to look crazy.

Already 52000 NHS staff off sick, I suspect many with long term health issues now (long Covid and mental health).

Coupled with 50% of the workforce reaching retirement age in the next decade.. how do we fill this enormous 400k (off the top of my head) gap in staff?

Certainly won't be able to recruit that many when nurses are subject to tens of thousands of pounds in fees and loans, have no help paying their way through training, are subject to terrible working conditions, and receive little support from their employers.

Pretty obvious what the Tories game is.. keep chipping away at the NHS and then say "we need to bring in private staff to plug the gaps" which leads to the entire service being privatised.

They're not even trying to hide it.

Because governments borrow from themselves and there will be countless nations who will claim this is unfair and won't be honest with their debt figures and/or will use it to artificially manipulate their economies (not that they don't already).

You'll never get unanimous agreement across the entire smorgasbord of nations.

92% of all the covid related borrowing in the UK has come from the Bank of England.

Almost all gov debt is money "borrowed" against future economic performance. Basically "lend" themselves money from their future selves.

And when future economic performance is looking bleak or uncertain, they just print more money 😂

Which normally would mean a devaluation of currency and the inevitable inflation that would arise from that.. but when all major economies are employing the same policy (as they have the past decade) then that no longer becomes much of an issue.

Safe to say the system is 100% rigged and no longer based on economic performance as it used to be pre 1980s

That makes about as much sense as "transferring" history from your previous selves.

What's the source of this number?

I was under the impression that 22% are over 55.

Can't find the source I had last night but it came from the Royal College of Nursing review.

I believe this news story references the same report/review.

https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/nhs-faces-nurse-shortage-as-half-near-retirement-j6q5rs7nz

Seems it's a few years old now, so googled RCN to find the review I saw last night, and there's a more recent one that says it's now 30% with it now being compounded by EU staff almost entirely no longer joining the NHS (96% drop in new recruits).

Aye the latest review has it as 1 in 3 due to retire in the next few years (last review I can see was 2018).
