Certainly whatever Bruno achieves this season will be despite Fosun not because of them

I don't know why so many on here get dejected after every transfer window. I'm used to it and the sooner folks realize that we are owned by an investment company and not an individual who will spend money, the sooner the penny will drop.

We will not be able to submit a senior squad of 25 players, just like we haven't for a few seasons now. We have a total of 22 players out on loan, including senior players, U23's and the development side. Some of whom have had their contracts extended, but I fear only a small handful will return to compete for a first team spot. The vast majority will hopefully gain first team experience for whoever they're playing for and later be sold on for a profit.

Realistically from what's happened over the last 5 years, I only see us competing for a minor European spot, unless Bruno can retain our best players and improve the younger ones.

I'm all for giving Bruno 100% support, but I'm afraid Fosun are letting us down badly with regard to bringing in top class players. Their 10 dream is evaporating at a fast rate, imo.

Maybe Nuno saw the writing on the wall, but having watched our 3 league games in full, I like what I see and it's a vast improvement on the tactics used by Nuno.

Sums it up really, with Fosun unwilling to cough up enough dosh.

Fairly clear what is happening. They no longer have any designs on reaching the CL which is fine but at the very least under a new manager he should be getting the tools to implement the changes he will have discussed when he started this journey and has quite openly discussed in interviews of late. The club have turned around and shat all over that, quite emphatically.

Also speaks volumes for the job he has done so far that just about every fan is 100% behind him and pretty happy with how he has gone about things despite three defeats and no goals.

leaves us very thin in midfield, not so concerned with other areas will Jordao come into the team at some stage? Cant remember what type of midfielder he is? But young and inexperienced
Neves, who is playing very well and with more influence, is likely to get suspended at some stage , fingers crossed no injury, but nothing in reserve that I can see

I suspect that once Boly and Mosquera are back up to speed, Bruno will move Saiss back into the midfield where he belongs. That gives us just 4 central midfielders with Neves, Moutinho and Dendoncker.
We are also very thin in the wide forwards department until Neto returns with just Trincao, Traore and Podence available. If Bruno switches to a back 4 it's likely that all 3 forwards will start in a 4.2.3.1 formation that leaves us zero subs in case of injuries.

Which ever way we look at it its a mess, a shambles and a total let down of the manager and the fans. We can only hope that by the next transfer window they (Fosun) will release some funds and get in more players.

I won't be holding my breath.

Pretty easy to catastrophize yesterday's feeble attempts to add to the squad in the final hours, but there's plenty doing that on social media so won't add fuel to that fire.

Where we stand now, we're well covered it seems at goal keeper, though I'm not sure whether Sondergard went out on loan or not in the end?

Back three has options when Boly and Mosquera are fit, until then Dendoncker is the only cover. The concern here is that if Bruno wants to go to a back four, we dont really have the cover

Wing - back happy here, good quality starters and back ups.

Midfield, Neves, Moutinho, Dendoncker. Jordao maybe when fit. Can understand letting Otasowie go if he wasn't fitting in but not taking up Vitinha's option and sending Gibbs White out on loan without replacing them in the squad is crazy. Would love to know what the club's strategy is here because to the rest of us it makes no sense. We needed strong back up in this area and bring in a more attacking option, we did neither and got rid of the options that we had last season.

Forwards, plenty of pacy wide men, Podence, Traore, Trincao, Neto on his return. Central strikers, it looks better on paper with Jimenez returning and Hwang signed. Silva looks a great prospect but I want him to stop looking like a kid that's playing with his mates in the park and start playing with a purpose. Hwang, I have no idea what to expect from him, he's scored plenty in Austria, but this is different gravy. Short on cover if we get injuries again. The strange pursuit of Moore told us that the club were trying to bring in some experienced cover.

So not the complete disaster that many are making it out to be but recruitment does appear to be rather chaotic. If its true that we were looking to bring in the likes of Calleta Car, Botman, Kamara, Sanches, then presumably there was money available within the FFP thresholds for one of them at least. We dont know the facts of course but the focus seemed to shift one way then the other through the window without a clear idea of what we wanted to achieve. Yes the situation would have been different had more players moved out but surely if we want to build a stronger squad the mind set has to be that you keep your best players and add strength to them, not dither because you're not sure whether you'll be able to keep them or not.

Some attempts at positivity are commendable, and Bruno certainly deserves it after just a few weeks of his tenure.

Reality is that we are once again 2 or 3 injuries away from another complete disaster. Unfortunately we don't even have the inexperienced options on the bench now that we had last year.

We are relying heavily on a core group of 15 or 16 players staying fit for 8 months. What could possibly go wrong?

Hopefully our new signings hit the ground running.......

cos we can't afford them to hwang awound.

I would go along with that assessment oldgold. It’s a massive disappointment that Fosun haven’t put their hands in their pockets but I do think our squad is stronger now than it was in May.

In goal hopefully Sa will prove to be as good as Patricio, and we have the reliable stand by in Ruddy if not. Sondegaard should have enough experience to step in if needed now and the young keeper we bought in from Man City to the U23s, Moulden, looks very good.

In the wing back/full back department, Marcal has been excellent so far this season and Semedo has the place booked on the other side. Hoever and Ait Nouri provide good alternatives.

At centre back Kilman has been a revelation so far and from what little we have seen Mosquera looks a good addition. Boly, Saiss and Coady give us enough numbers but Bruno needs to decide on whether it’s going to be 3 or 4 at the back.

In central midfield we remain with Neves, Moutinho and Dendoncker and seemingly no new alternative. We have to hope Joao has one more good season left in him.

In the attacking area we have Traore, Trincao, Podence and Hwang with Neto later in the season. I do think that’s the basis of an exciting new set up and if Hwang can produce anywhere near his performances at Salzburg he could well be the number 10 we badly needed.

Up front I still have faith in the progress of Fabio but our season is so reliant on Raul getting back to being the striker we know he can be.

No question no that Wolves are being held back by being owned by an investment company that seem no longer interested in investing. But as long as we don’t have another season ravaged by injuries to key players, Bruno looks well capable of making it an enjoyable season.

posted on 1/9/21

Continuing to look for positives I guess if we go to a back four then you could make an argument that Saiss and Coady become back up midfield options .

If we can turn good stats in to good results quickly, then I'm sure things will look much rosier. However it was the type of games that we have coming up where players looked like they couldn't be @rsed last season. And going back since we got promoted its been the same, I hope Bruno recognises this and makes sure the lads are ready to go at Brentford in the same way we did Leicester, Spurs & Man U. Forest was encouraging in this respect to be fair.

By the end of September we will have a much clearer idea on the likely path our season takes.

Will it be another season of mid table mediocrity with just enough good performances to appease the happy clappers?

Or are we in deep doo doo with a relegation fight on the horizon

Don’t personally see Coady or Saiss as Premier League midfield players, but it could become needs must with a few injuries

Pleased to see that there are still people on this board that recognise that the current squad situation is not all doom and gloom.

The recruitment situation, particularly in the last few days, has looked a bit strange, but I still think that it looks more promising than it did on the last day of last season. Mosquera sounds as if he may be a good addition, and Trincao seems to have hit the floor running. Too early to assess Hwang, but he may be the sort of player we have been short of.

Again comparing the last days of the previous season, I'm sure Jimenez will return to his best and sooner or later we will have a top class Neto back.

Four players that seem to have been reborn under Bruno are Marcal, who is showing that he does have some attacking skills after all, Kilman is demonstrating the consistency most of us knew he had, Neves is returning to his best I think (he just needs to relearn how to shoot), and of course there's Traore. Adama will, I'm sure, flourish under Bruno and I'm confident, with the right coaching, he will soon produce the end results that have been tantalisingly close.

Not only this, but the playing style seems to be nearer to that that many were desperate for over the last couple of seasons.

Yes, I'm optimistic. Shoot me now.

No good talking about Sondegaard. He has gone back to Denmark on loan.
Our 'senior' squad consists of 2 keepers and 20 outfield players 6 of whom are 21 years old or under, 2 of whom are currently injured and 2 of whom are recovering from injury.
That means we actually have currently 12 fully fit senior outfield players. That is woeful and disgraceful and embarrassing for Bruno who has been conned with false promises from Fosun.

All that having been said, the youngsters we have are all proving that they can hold their own at Premier League level.
If we don't have any more serious injuries (big IF) I think we have a squad and coach that are more than capable of a top half finish. But with a bit of investment it could have been soooooooooo much better than that.

In an effort to bury bad news no doubtm the club have announced today that Graham Hughes "temporary stand" (its been there 18 years now) will not now be open for several more weeks due to the previously reported structural problems. Brexit, Covid, etc to blame of course not p!ss poor planning in any way.

I am not all doom and gloom as some on here think, what I am is realistic.
Yes we have a reasonable squad and I am thrilled by the performances so far, except for the lack of goals.
What worries me most is the inevitable injuries and lack form which are both certain to occur. We do not have any backup resources to fill in and we do not have a large enough squad as has been seen last season.
The smoke and mirrors over transfers is unbelievable, same old leave it to the last days and then it all falls down.
We had a great opportunity to build on our last four years but sadly it has all been a big let down.

Contrary to popular opinion on 'ere, I am not as pessimistic as some posters think.

No, I am way more negative than most give me credit for! We haven't rippled the ole onion bag in 270 minutes of league football. We have played 3 "footballing" teams that have allowed us to play to our attacking strengths, such as they are. The real problems start when we play the more physical teams that always bully our lightweight players.

If you offered me 13th again now I would take it.

I agree with Boston in that, for me, it's not necessarily that the squad is in a terrible place (although centre mid does look incredibly light) but that it feels like it undoes some of the great work Fosun has done becoming professional football club owners.

Clear public aims (three to four quality players) not delivered and a stupidly niaive own goal having made them so public, no discernible strategy in the recruitment, bouncing from player to player.

I don't need Fosun to pile hundreds of millions in, but what I have believed is that their expertise in managing businesses of many different stripes will translate into expertise and a strategic, analytical approach to Wolves. That's how I believe we can be successful in the long term without loads of cash being invested, but that's not going to happen if Fosun aren't bringing their A game.

posted on 1/9/21

It’s not a great public profile for Fosun is it. Openly declare they will run the club as an investment company. And then don’t invest

posted on 1/9/21

Seems to me like Fosun feel like they have invested sufficiently and are expecting the management board to start delivering the returns now.
