5k times

comment by fridgeboy (U1053) If you're doing that outside, you can shave off a minute or two from your record if you're adapting the times for a treadmill. It's much harder outside as you have to battle wind and a more undulating course. Your fitness will be much higher for doing it outside.
===========================

I've had 2 days off for a colonoscopy, but today I found a 360m part of my course which is a straight and only on a slight incline.
Done that 14 times (7 out 7 back) less 40m = 5k.

25.14
Definitely reckon I can get back sub 25, ta.

looks like that was a one hit wonder.
25.38 today

1st 2k was at 24.30 pace.
Last 1.5k probably about the same.
Just died in the middle 1.5k.

Weird how sometimes the tank is empty.

I'm gonna have to do a 5K and see how I get on. Reckon it will be 35 mins.

just take it steady. when you really need a break, take one (but keep the watch running!).
might take a while to get up to 5k anyway starting from scratch.
good luck, and let us know how it's going

Cheers. I used to run but hurt my knee and got lazy. 51 now and overweight but it's never too late!

Just get out and start doing something as soon as you can. As in next weekend latest. Don't worry about how far you go. Jog a bit, walk a bit, jog a bit.
Little and often.

26.16
started much slower (27.00 pace instead of 25.00 pace)
Was still unpleasant, but not quite as unpleasant. Also maintained a steady speed.

Got a thigh strain (probably did it warming up).

posted on 26/12/23

this strain's worse than it was 4 weeks ago and I've been resting the whole time, so god knows when I can run again. Been icing it the last few days though so hopefully that'll help.

Barefoot.
Have you given it a go yet???

I've just jogged 2km in a fraction under 12 minutes.
Even after 6 weeks off, it's actually comfortable at that pace rather than effing agony the whole way.

Felt my thigh a little bit just the last 200m or so, so hoping hoping it wasn't too much. 🙏
