Close enough!
----------------------------------------------------------------------
it was as fast as I could go, I'll tell you that much!!
what I would say is that I'd have smashed it on a flat run for sure. well, I'm pretty sure anyway.
What happened to you Barefoot? I thought you were going to do a bit of jogging/walking/jogging/walking?
i actually respect myself for having run within 20 seconds of the time I did today last week. that was a damn good effort.

Disappointing Barefoot.
I want to set you a target of jogging for 2 minutes continuously.

My ideal targets I would like to beat this year (or ever in the future, but if it doesn't happen this year...):
5k 24.59
(tried last year and was 8 seconds off. would be my best time for 2 years) PB this year 27.22.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
5k (quite hilly) 25.40
also I changed course so had already done about 500m before I (effectively) re-started the watch (actually just took a time check at my 5k start point).
I was flying at the end, and I'd even say had a little bit left in the tank. Only stopped for a 10 second shoe lace tie at the turnaround.
Wow, I hadn't realised how big an improvement that was on my last 5k!!!
i've not got another 41 seconds in me. not on that route.
flat maybe i could do it. but i don't have anywhere flat to run so it'll remain theoretical.
i do actually.
the far end of my 5k route has 400m that's pretty much flat and with a marker point at each and and at half way.
what's slower out of running 5k on inclines, and running 5k flat but turning back on yourself 12 times?
i guess you're going to either over run or need to slow down for the turn?
I reckon I've finally worked out what distance I used to do when I used the treadmill in the gym when I was in my early 30s.
I've always remembered that I ran for 20 minutes, and I would do a distance which was 1 of the following:
*2.6-2.65m
*2.6-2.65km
*3.6-3.65m
*3.6-3.65km
I believe it was 2.6-2.65m. Over 20 minutes that's around 4.24km
That is around 23.30 pace for 5k (although I know I could not have done another 750m at the same pace, so say 24.00m for 5k).
Now when I got running again in my mid 40s, I got down to 22.30 for 5k when I was 47.
A always assumed that that must have been slower than when I was in my early 30s.
But there's something I hadn't taken into account. I stopped smoking when I was 45. In my early 30s I was quite a heavy smoker.
And I reckon as a result I was about 90 seconds faster (at my quickest) over 5k when I was 47, than when I was 31.
couldn't be assed.
tomorrow.
27.40 for 5k
Lost more than 2 minutes!
That's what 5 days no exercise does when you're 49.75
Exactly 2 minutes actually.
26.11
There were 3 community traffic people standing just after my finish line, and they all said well done. One of them said...I've forgotten actually, I think he said, "that's really impressive".
I find it hard to comprehend though how 2 years ago I got down to 22.30 and 25.00 was pretty much a comfortable stroll.
recovery day 3k 16.31
still trying quite hard
that's the other thing about now v 2 years ago.
i could do 5ks every day, at c23 minute pace.
i doubt I could do back to back 27s now.
wow, 4 days since I did 5k
already
man
jeez
sigh
I went for walk of approx 6-7 miles along the river thames path into the centre of Oxford and back yesterday. I had jeans and a hoodie on so no running but will definitely do this again in more appropriate gear and break into the odd run along the way.
Finally!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Well done Barefoot.

It was. Unfortunately only spent 10 minutes or so in Oxford because of the time. Had to take the hoodie off after a couple of miles as it was pretty warm.
