Butland in particular is arguably far too good for this level.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Decent for sure and step up from what you had but don't get carried away - long contract will boost the potential number but tm still only values him at €3m - add a couple of £m for the contract and tm valuations being conservative and he aint gonna fund a revolution and don't see him moving to prem except as a backup somewhere.

Don’t think TM value really matters for someone like Butland, he’s not been signed with any resale value in mind. And don’t see him being sold unless someone was desperate and paid ott.

He’s been excellent but will be on big wages, so as much as he was free he’ll still be costing us handsomely. He’s moved for first team football in Europe, and think he’s loving being a big shot up here.

I think £7m is excessive for our league and certainly well outside our remit just now financially.

But if there was a deal to be done and we could afford it around £4m I think its worth doing absolutely.

Think the age is a great point, at 22 he's still very much making his way in the game. He has a great attitude, puts a shift in wherever you ask, is a brilliant athlete and has an end product. Given he had a bit of a rough start I think 14 goals by mid December is a fantastic return.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Disagree on 7m. Would rather we sign two quality players who we could have more trust in for 6/7m rather than four players for 3m. Transfer fees are an investment, and would rather gamble on free transfers and players similar to Sima on loan.

The wages we currently pay are the issue. They are excessive. A bloated squad due to injuries, duds and paying over odds to get players to move here.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Yeah I agree but we don't have those kinds of funds. I just don't see that getting two players at £6/7m is realistic. I'm not saying that means we get several at £3m because I think if we're being optimistic we probably spend max £5m in Jan.

We did decent business at little outlay last Jan with Cantwell and Raskin coming out of contract and I think we will be looking at the same again or a loan to tide us through to summer.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Funds are the issue but I like Sima and wish we could buy units like that instead of fooking midgets.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
leave Zach out of this!!!

100% I think he's here to stay and found his level.

Others more interesting if you can turn profitable player trading as your board keep telling you.

I said last week I'd support Brendan. Feck that. I'm fickle.

IMO, he made a few early mistakes and it's already too far gone with the players. He won't recover.

Playing Maeda at CF pre-season and talking him up as a striker set the alarm bells ringing and fook knows what Kyogo and Oh thought about that. It was just Brendan doing Brendan things and hoping to get one over on Ange.

Then starting the season with Turnbull rather than Hatate really got me worried. I'm fairly sure that every player in that dressing room knows that Hatate is miles ahead of Turnbull. I'd probably even include Turnbull himself in that.

It was a pathetic attempt to make a point and show that he's in charge. He picked the wrong guy to make an example of. Hatate is one of the hardest working and most committed players we've had in years so all the Rodgers speak about how he had to produce more didn't add up. Then when Hatate came in and played OK (ie better than Turnbull but nowhere near his best), the Shiver tried to take credit for improving him as a player.

Now we have the latest nonsense of trying to turn Kyogo into a midgefielder.

He'll do lasting damage to that squad before he goes.

Nice one

Hoping for some luck in the UEFA ballot for Switzerland in Cologne. If not it will be tickets when i'm over there. Away to a stag when we play Hungary so i'm missing that.

I'll be back for the knockouts with any luck...

Applied for a few others as well, England v Serbia, Austria v France and Netherlands v Play off winners. Only applied for England to stop one of them going

Meanwhile, in today’s Beeb footie gossip, another telling indictment of Nat Phillips’ standing in the game …

“Liverpool are considering recalling English centre-back Rhys Williams, 22, from his loan spell at Aberdeen as Jurgen Klopp looks to solve his defensive injury crisis. (Mail)“

BR knows best though.
