I think Bellegarde has played well when he has played centrally. Munetsi can play in there too. I think we probably need someone else in there to cover injuries and compete for a place, but I dont think central midfield is a major issue.

Probably better looking at succession planning in there to be honest and bringing in someone to develop to take over when Andre and Gomes inevitably leave in the coming years.

Bellegarde and Munetsi have both done well generally last season and I’m sure they’ll remain part of the squad. But I’m not sure I see either of them as defensive midfield players. From the players we have I think maybe Traore is the best cover for Andre and Joao. But it seems to be a popular view that he will be loaned out to regain his match fitness after a long time out.

Munetsi is a defensive midfielder. We've played him out of position since he arrived. He played defensive midfield everywhere else he has been and even his Wikipedia page describes him as such.

Whatever Munetsi is I think it is fair to say he plays quite differently to Joao and Andre. But I would certainly rather see him in midfield than where he was shoehorned in this past season.

Bellegarde is more a dilemma really, he actually came into his own at the end of the season in one of the more advanced positions but will he hold that spot down.

Kyle Walker-Peters rumoured as a replacement for Semedo. Wonder if this is more legit as the Kyle Walker link was obviously daft but that rumour came form somewhere.

John Percy words here

What they need
Two new No 10s, a striker, left-back and potentially two new goalkeepers.

Who they could target
Wolves have kicked off their summer recruitment by agreeing a £19.5 million deal with Celta Vigo for playmaker Fer López. They have been linked with Liverpool’s Harvey Elliott but may find the asking price too high. Barcelona left-back Gerard Martín is a top target while Fulham’s Andreas Pereira is admired by Wolves’ recruitment team.

Who could leave
Matheus Cunha and Rayan Ait-Nouri have already departed for a combined fee of almost £100 million. Captain Nelson Semedo is also expected to leave as a free agent. The future of Wolves goalkeeper Jose Sa is uncertain, with Vitor Pereira understood to be prioritising a new No 1.

What's the situation with Sa's contract. Remember this time last year he was expected to go, but didn't.

We could do a lot worse than Sa.

Does my head this time of year, knobheads using phrases like " is admired by..." and " holds an interest in..." trying to sound like that pair of tw@ts on SSN.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Reports I’ve read about Munetsi is that over the last couple of years he’s played a fairly equal number of games as a defensive midfielder, an attacking midfielder and as a number 10. Don’t see him being disciplined enough to cover for Andre and Joao. I see him more box to box or playing in the middle of the three behind the striker, as he did last season.

Trouble is if Sa goes as well as Johnstone then we need two new keepers. Sa certainly has his dodgy moments but overall I think he’s a good keeper.

How do lads

We seem to be linked with a few new wingers today. Wonder if the Don is looking at a change of system to better suit JSL's strengths

Think we’ll need at least another 5 given who is expected to leave.

Wolfie reckons we’ll sign 2 or 3 this summer and then we’ll go on and qualify for Europe. Yeah right
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I said 2 or 3 simply because I expected 2 or 3 senior players to leave and they should be replaced. At this time it's only Cunha and RAN. We have plenty of cover in defence and midfield, especially as there are many coming back from injury. Keep them at the club, instead of loaning them out, simply to get them match fit. Mosquera, B. Traore, Meupiyou and even Gonzales should be near ready for the new season. Sasa may take a little longer.
Plus, doing it this way will save money.

As for Europe, I didn't say we'd qualify for Europe, I said, hopefully we'd be in the top half and maybe go for a European spot.

If you take VP's record of 25 league matches and equate that into 38, then there's no reason why we can't achieve 60 or so points. Remember, we didn't lose any of our games when Cunha was given his red card suspension. He also scored more league goals under O'Neil. I may amend my prediction to 3 or 4, now that I've heard VP wants a left sided defender to compete with Toti.

So you’re going to change your opinion every time it becomes clearer that you were wrong. Cunha, Ait Nouri and Sarabia have left. Johnstone, Semedo, Doyle, Traore, Sasa, Hwang, Guedes may well follow.

I’ll stick with my view we’ll sign half a dozen. You keep changing your mind until you agree with me.

I think we'll sign another 7

All predictions are meaningless

Seems like only yesterday that we were reading on ere that Dawson is an 'excellent Premier league centre back:!

posted 2 days, 9 hours ago

Latest player being linked is the Real Betis left sided attacker Jesus Rodriguez. Similar price to Fer Lopez

Ger Lopez?

Hartman has been Feyenoord’s left back but was kept out of the team for most of last season by Hugo Bueno. He is now on the point of joining Premier League Burnley for €10m

I'm not including players that are out of contract in my assessment of players leaving, only those who we get a fee for. Johnstone, Doyle, Traore and Hwang have hardly featured since VP arrived and Sasa hasn't kicked a ball.

To date, we've signed 1 player, hopefully for cover for the loss of Cunha. We'll have to wait and see if we sign any more.

Many rumors are out there and it was nice to see that Hugo Bueno played the whole 90+ minutes for Spain in their 1-3 to England. That should please cinci.

Like I’m sure Vitor Pereira will do, I’ll be including all players leaving in my assessment of who might leave whether they are out of contract or not. Be silly not to

He was pretty poor by all accounts. The mix are disappointed as I think Oldgold saw

posted 2 days, 4 hours ago

To be clear, I am more than happy for Bueno to be given first shot at the spot, I think he has a lot of potential. My only point has been he isn't anywhere near the player that RAN is and so far that isn't an argument.

Surprise results in the u21s yesterday as Spain and Portugal were favourites to win but both lost. Portugal losing despite Holland going down to ten men midway through the first half. I’m sure the tournament would have been great experience for Hugo who was first choice left back throughout the completion and will at least now have time for a break before pre season.

Plenty of interest in Tommy Doyle who looks certain to leave this summer. Sunderland, Sheffield Utd and Birmingham all interested.

Former Wolves players Danny Batth and Andreas Weimann are both free agents now and both look set to be signed up by Derby County
