I think amongst the ex players, there arent that many real experts, they are just pundits, who just say anything.

^^^

It’s not just ex players saying it though.

Pretty sure I put more faith in football pundits
Opinions on our chances of staying up than I do
Our ja crew. Great group and all. But we’re not
Exactly neutral with our thoughts on this.

Bournmouth have just spent £90 million on a couple of centre backs and haven't finished yet so I think they will still be punching way above their wait and finish fairly comfortably above the bottom 3 but I agree about Brentford and I also think Wolves will struggle but Sunderland who I've predicted to still go straight back down are definitely giving it a go like when Forest got promoted so we'll see. Just need a couple of difference maker signings and as Chris Wood proved at Forest they don't need to be flash and overly expensive, just the right fit which I hope now is Dovbyk and possibly Doak from Liverpool will give us enough to stay clear of the drop zone.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

who have they spent £90m on ?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yeah my mistake I see they've only signed one new cb for £35million the other £55 million was me just seeing a headline that said Bournmouth agree transfer for £55 million defender which I've just seen they sold not bought but even so I will be surprised if they don't spend another £30 plus million on a replacement cb before the window shuts and they've already bought a new gk from
Chelsea for £25 million but if they lose their two main talisman players Kluivert and Semenyo then yes I'd be more convinced they'll struggle but atm I think they're
be above the bottom 6 personally about 12th to 14th.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I'd imagine the CB they have signed is being signed as their Zabarnyi replacement. Probably replace Huijsen in-house, as they have Senesi waiting in the wings. Could be wrong.

All by the by, though, as I'd give no chance of Bournemouth being bottom three.

Theres not many ex player pundits that really do the research themselves. They're going on feelings the same as anyone on here, and judging from last year I was more accurate than all of them.
Maybe I was biased but I got the top four exact and had Man Utd and Tottenham outside the top ten.
The pundits all play if safe as do the bookies

I can’t imagine that anyone thinking Burnley are likely to survive has looked at their squad.

We definitely need to sign at least 2 attacking players and a fullback that can cover both sides if we want a decent chance of surviving.

I’m guaranteeing that we will sign those 3 players before the window shuts. And spend a big amount of money on them. How suitable they will be is the doubt as we could end up quite far down the pecking order.

We have no idea as fans how many we are talking to. Who our priority is. Or what game the owners are playing though.

I’m nervous because we are running out of time but this is what happens for everyone. And all fans react like it’s their owners trying to rinse the club dry. It’s just stupid. So many moving parts and so much pressure it’s inevitable that pretty much all clubs end up in this boat. More so a club that’s just been promoted and being ambitious and trying not to make the same mistakes as the last 6.

All I know it’s a good job we have professionals in charge and not the vast majority of fans on social media who would clearly crap themselves at the first opportunity. Things were always going to get bumpy. I hope the club is remaining calm and not panicking about the Everton game when there’s another 37 after and we really need to get the best possible attacking players available.

Maybe, but I'd say Leicester had stagnated a little, and had issues with a manager who struggles with longevity. I believe Iraola to be a better manager.

Obviously anything can happen, but I'd be fairly confident in saying Bournemouth won't go down. Wolves the main one I'm looking at.

Bournemouth have goal scorers in Semenyo, Kluivert and Evanilson. I think they'll be fine. Brentford look the most likely outside the promoted clubs. I give Burnley next to no chance, Sunderland might do ok but will probably be an Ipswich repeat, start ok but fall away 2nd half the season.

Starting to feel like we'll have to be content with Sargent and possibly DCL although some on social media are saying Leeds are favourites to sign Mitrovic from Saudi but I'd be shocked if the owners matched his reported 400k per week even half that would be too expensive as DCL's ex agent was apparently wanting 150k per week for his client which we're led to believe Leeds walked away from so if he's back in contention I'm assuming his wage demands have come down now he's sacked his agent but either way all of this reeks of desperation as the new season creeps up on us and the window closes in 17 days.

Maybe rock bottom is a harsh statement, but as it stands we were starting the season with our championship attack and a free striker and I think we’re strong contenders to drop.

2 good signings could change that, club will have to spend big

2 good forward signings

I remember my Dad took me to see Zulu when I was a little kid. "Hold your fire till you see the whites of their eyes," bellowed Michael Caine, in his poshest voice. That's where we are now - balls of steel required at this point.

That Muniz looks just the job - just pay them what they want!

Dovbyk looks good but not as good as Muniz?

Taremi looks too old at 33?

The yank at Norwich? No thanks, we've got one of them already and he's not up to it either.

If they sign Calvert-Lewin, I will despair.

Mitrovic would be a good addition to the squad might take him time to get up to speed but he’s reportedly getting his contract paid up so will be unemployed and worth what anyone will pay,

Newcastle signing Ramsey from Villa, went quiet on the El Khannouss rumour to them pretty quickly. I wonder if he could be done pretty quick?

Muniz to Atalanta getting closer confirmed by Romano, who's not always right but feels a lot more likely now confirmed by him than the usual italian 'journalists'

It's been reported that we had fees agreed for both Andrea Pinamonti & Arnaud Kalimuendo but both players rejected the move. Which if true, would mean that we are not as hung up on Muniz as reports are hinting. Maybe the journalists are just not getting other leaks and so are repeating the same story?

It does look like the club are prepared to spend at least another £60m this window which should be enough. Although I do wonder if the inability to sell Meslier & Harrison is also holding things back at this stage of the window?

True and I suppose he'd command some signing on fee probably in the millions so if Leeds could acquire his services for around 75k per week which is I think what would not upset the unity of the dressing room and of course he's happy with that then yes a deal is possible.

Why is it, with all the information available to scouts, about players in every league, from every country, we seem to end up looking at a narrow band of players who everyone else is bidding for too? Are there no players in places like South America or Ukraine or Japan who could smash this league?

comment by Mattyp (U8926)

posted on 13/8/25

Mitrovic has a great record in the championship, however his premier league record is mid at best and basically he had one decent season.

Add to that he has been playing in a rubbish league for two years chasing money, I honestly can't see why you would want to sign him.

Imagine having a go at Harrison cause he didnt want to drop down a league and take a pay cut but then say a player who dropped into a joke league for money is the answer.

posted on 13/8/25

Calvert Lewin coming.

Jesus that could be a problem if there's no one else

posted on 13/8/25

The problem is Matty although Mitrovic isnt blessed with great pace he does have a presence and even though he has been away from the top level for a bit I'd still rate him better than what we have but I hope Leeds can also add another striker aswell.

It's all getting a bit desperate and our options appear to
have narrowed and time is against us although Farky is
right in suggesting Leeds look at players in Japan and
South America the reality is most EPL recruitment teams go for tried and proven and use a blasted laptop with all sorts of stats on players that they think match up to certain criteria they are after which is all well and good
but instinct and your own eyes still trump all that for me.

I really don't understand signing both DCL & Nmecha. One of them as second choice makes sense but not both. Surely we are taking a massive risk if we don't sign someone else.

DCL may fail his medical yet.

posted on 13/8/25

Just seen DCL news which all we can hope now is he can stay fit...a big ask and he can surprise everyone's expectations like Chris Wood did for Forest....again a big ask and probably wishful thinking but if he wears the Leeds shirt he will 100% get my support....we've reached beggars can't be choosers so it is what it is!!!

He'll pass his medical sign and then pull his hamstring in his first Leeds training session knowing our luck...still at least it's a new face and may raise morale around the club and of course could be some fairytale debut against his old club next Monday???
