ROUND 1 - Sonnen took Silva down immediately, and most thought that a re-run of the previous clash was on the cards here.

However something seemed different, Sonnen`s raw aggression and strike-rate was decidedly lower than before. The ground and pound that he employed before was substituted with a more sedate ground and lie with the occasional punch thrown in.

Of the large amount of the round that was spent in Silva`s guard, only 2 or 3 punches really connected. As the bell rang the Chapmion sprang up and jogged over to his corner, in a show of mind games.

Ironically Silva was looking good after his 1st round loss, he was unmarked and relatively dry. Sonnen on the other hand "looked" like the busier man.

ROUND 2 - True to form the challenger kept going for the shoot, Silva`s takedown defense was very good and he kept the fight on its feet. As much as Chael tried, he just couldn't get Silva down.

Silva broke free from Chaels grappling and started teeing off, most of the shots were pretty wild by Silva`s high standards, but they were enough to illicit a "free for all" response from Chael who threw some shots back.

The game changer came when Sonnen tried to execute a spinning back elbow...Silva ducked causing Sonnen to fall against the cage. Silva saw his opportunity and pounced with a monstrous knee to the chest, this clearly took the wind from Sonnen`s sails, Silva followed up with a barrage of accurate head shots.

Chael managed to stand up again, but the writing was on the wall, shades of Franklin Silva came back as Silva boxed and kicked Chael to the ground, forcing him to take up the fetal position and wait for the ref to intervene.

Silva actually won this fight as opposed to Chael losing it, he proved he is the best of the best.

As for Sonnen, who knows. Excellent fighter and excellent talker, hope he stays in the media.
