Another summer of signing midfielders but not addressing the only one key problem, goals!
It’s been the same since Torre's form dipped and we have never replaced him. Even before Torres was dipping we never signed a back up/partner for him, well actually we did have Keane for a few months.....
Ever since our 2nd place season there was no proper building on the achievement, instead it was all backward steps.
It’s not just one manager/owners in particular, its all of them!! They just don’t see that to be a top side in Europe you need at least 3 scoring strikers. How many do we have or have we had over the last 4 or 5 years and in the same breath, what have we won in the last 4 or 5 years?
Can you count the amount of strikers we have signed since we won the FA Cup in 2006?
Well its (9…. Well 9ish)
Dirk Kuyt (often a winger)
Fernando Torres
Robbie Keane (Career lasted just 6 months)
David Ngog (youth)
Andrew Carroll
Craig Bellamy (often a winger)
Luis Suarez
Andrei Voronin
Samed Yesil (youth)
Fabio Borini (still very young)
And how many of those few have actually scored over 15 Goals in a season?
Well Kuyt has twice in his Liverpool Career, Suarez once and Torres done it in 3 of his 4 seasons.
Not very good statistics aren’t they?
Now the amount of CM's we have signed! (Its 10)
Lucas Leiva
Alberto Aquilani
Raul Meireles
Christian Poulson
Jonjo Shelvey
Jordan Henderson
Charlie Adam
Joe Allen
Joe Cole (was initially signed for the centre)
Nuri Şahin
These were all brought for first team football! I mean whats the point with having a great passing team if you cant score or defend?
Also we haven’t signed proper wingers over the years and very often we have had make shift ones...
Rant over!
Pass and Lose!!

I remember when people called us fools (both supporters and rivals) for not breaking the bank to buy stars like SWP and Bentley.

Imagine if Hodgson had managed to get Carlton Cole, all our problems would be solved.

We should have signed Michael Ricketts back when he was at Bolton
World beater striker

Or Jelavic, Ba, Cisse (either one), Dempsey, huntelaar... etc
Or we could of signed 10 CM's <ok. and go that route looking to solve our striking problems?

well we played with a lone striker in a 4-2-3-1 for a lot of those years
So mainly 3 mids and one striker
signing 10 mids and 9 strikers in that context looks like we either should have signed more CMs or less strikers. The ratio is well in favour of strikers considering the balance.

Im talking about as a whole! The full 7 years since the FA Cup!
We have had various systems and the system you are refering only worked with Alonso, Gerrard and Torres fully fit! But how often did that happen?
There was only Ngog then Kuyt as Torres's back up!!
