FSG

Good day my Red cousins,
Now I will not pretend to know as much about your beloved club and owners as you do. So your honest opinion will be helpful.
Now recently the spotlight seem to be on FSG and with there recent open letter to fans, I have read on here some pro and some con FSG,
Some people seem to think that its good, and that FSG are new to football and that they are learning as they go, the thing that gets me thinking, If FSG are as big and successful as some make out, should they not have done there homework before buying LFC so as not to have made some of the mistakes they have made? surley this would be expected from a multi-billionare group ?

Mr R

Put it this way.

Someone should have a massive kick up the rear end for making the decision to loan out a striker, and then not bother until the last day of the transfer window to try to replace him.

could not agree more, but who is responsible for this,,,I would say the manager but surely he would only let him leave if he was lead to think he was bringing in a replacement

there's a few things that can make a major difference though. they're used to sports teams being a franchise, where they're a fixed %age of the sport, with a more fixed player pool to draft from. i think the whole transfer situation in football was a bit of a shock to them.

they've also previously stated that the incoming ffp rules were a major aspect in them becoming involved with us, they probably wouldn't have bought us without the prospect of ffp, so it's fair to say they'll push very hard for this to be enforced properly, not just in uefa competitions, but also for them to be applied to the premier league.

another incentive for them is the continually mooted possibility of premier league clubs negotiating their own overseas broadcasting rights, which could have massive potential for our revenue generation.

basically, they saw an opportunity to buy us relatively cheaply, already knowing they could make big improvements in our income from good marketing/sponsorship, with the bonus of ffp levelling the playing field against the oil billionaire sugar-daddy owners, and with the possibility of another massive revenue generator becoming available to them further down the line.

It very likely was, but it shouldn't have been.

A very large number of our fans (I refer to them as being stupid) do not like David Gill.

But David Gill has been a very important bridge to the Glazer's for SAF, by educating them on how things are done.

I think Liverpool have been making the wrong appointments in this particular area.

This remains to be seen.

The only mistake made by LFC is not getting in a replacement for Andy and rodgers charging his mind publicly about wanting him

I think the problem is that we need a Chief Executive. I'm fairly sure we don't have one. Isn't that what David Gill is? This guy should be in charge of the day to day running of the club whilst FSG are in charge of the business side of things. He should be a go between, between the manager and FSG. Just my opinion.

I agree, I don't think Ian Ayre is a string enough MD. you can see why he was appointed, hed done a good job as Commercial Director, and he had experience of what was going on at Liverpool, but they need to bring in a David Gill or David Dein type person to oversee the day to day running of the club.
