Saw this the other day and felt it was worth posting about. Just goes to show that money can't buy you everything.
The Ajax side that beat Man City last night....
Vermeer - youth product
Van Rhijn - youth product
Alderweireld - youth product
Moisander - 2.5m
Blind - youth product
Eriksen - youth product
Poulsen - free
Schone - free
Sana - 250k
De Jong - youth product
Babel - free (originally a youth product)
Total cost: 2.75m
Don't know how much Man City team that night cost but i'd estimate that it's over 100m!!

, but in reality it was a great effort by a team that was built in a good, cheap way against a team that cost such a lot.

The Dutch youth system is pretty amazing, think the Belgian set it up prettty similar.

A lot of it's down to the general attitude they have towards sports on the continent. Your considered a weirdo if your not part of a sport club in some shape of form.
In Germany the amateur teams facilities would put most professional SPL clubs to shame

Ajax's system is the way to go and has been for decades, if it wasnt for the EPL, Serie A, La Liga living beyond it's means then they probably would still be challenging year after year.
For a club like Ajax these days it is swings and rondabouts!
