Season's expectations

Liverpool & Spurs are similar this season in terms of quite a few personnel changes from managers to players.

Us Spurs fans wish to see us end up around 4th or 5th come the end of the season but with Modric and VDV gone, not qualifying for the CL may not come as a huge suprise what with Chelsea bolstering their ranks after somehow defending their way through to the CL final and winning it.....and Roman's wallet beginning to rely on actual club income rather than his own pocket

What about Liverpool though? Rodgers believes around 8th would be decent considering the transistional period you're going through. As Liverpool fans would you accept this??

Everton will fall away after xmas. Playing so badly over the last five games and still not getting beaten shows this.

Greatteams
========
Walcott / Huntelaar and Ba in January, we could have :

Reina,Johnson,Skrtel,Agger,Enrique,Gerrard,Allen,Lucas,Sterling,Huntelaar(?),Suarez

Bench: Downing, Jones, Hunts/Ba(?), Suso, Coates, Wisdom, Kelly, Borini, Hendo, Walcott(?)

Looks pretty strong to me.

Obviously the new signings you suggest might be a little bit of wishful thinking, but I have to agree with you in the main.
I keep hearing about the strength of the other teams squads, but it simply does not stand up to analysis.
A bench that consists of Dempsey, Parker, and Sigurdsson, is nothing to write home about, and likewise, Newcastle, and Everton dont boast anything that would make you worry in terms of squad strength.
Even though their squad doesn't compare to the ones they have had in recent years, for me Arsenal are still the team to beat in terms of a top 4 challenge.
Im afraid Rodgers comment regarding a top 8 finish being an acomplishment does not quite wash with me, as our wage bill is still right up their, we still have a number of top international players at the club, and if he does wish to attract any decent players into the club come January, promises of a top 8 finish, isn't going to inspire any player worth his salt, to come to Liverpool.

I think we're in the same position as Spurs were a few years back right before they clicked into gear and marched up the table.

We've got a side that outplayed both Manchester clubs so I'm not buying the doom that the players aren't good enough. New manager, new players, new system only a quarter of the season gone. And other than the top3, the sides above us aren't anything special.

Out Played.....how many points do you get for that
