Liverpool fell to a hugely disappointing defeat to Aston Villa on Saturday afternoon at Anfield in the Premier League.

Having won back-to-back league games, the Reds were looking to push on and climb the table, but after a promising start to the game in which they dominated but failed to take their chances, Villa took the lead and never looked back.

The first goal came on 29 minutes when Christian Benteke received the ball from Brett Holman before lashing it in off the post from distance.

11 minutes later, Villa doubled their lead through Andreas Weimann. Benteke was the creator this time as he receives the ball from Weimann before returning it to him with a back heel, and Weimann slotted it in.

Six minutes into the second half, the game was over when substitute Joe Cole conceded possession to Benteke, and he flew past Joe Allen and Martin Skrtel before slotting it in.

A sloppy Liverpool could not find their way back into the game, and the best they could manage was a consolation goal three minutes from time. Glen Johnson took a shot from the right which glanced into the net off the head of Steven Gerrard.

The result takes Liverpool back into the bottom half of the table in 12th place, five points from fourth place.

Sham you cannot allow anyone else an opinion without you thinking you're right all the time. That is your problem.

TOOR

as you always preach, the most penetrative players will always be the most wasteful, and every team needs a few.

I think suarez was poor today, but far from at fault.

I'm not blaming Suarez, it's not his fault he's played there.

Ah that old classic.

I give an opinion - people disagree, I think I'm always right.

Others give an opinion - I disagree with it, I think I'm always right.
