Hi Guys,
I see many articles and comments slating Chicharito as being only a finisher (mostly Arsenal fans) but I would like to remind everyone that finishing is one of, if not the most, difficult skill in football!
I play league football and have begun to notice that normal players are quite proficient in many areas. Passing and dribbling, tackling, marking and heading. But the one skill everyone seems to struggle with is actually finishing! It is incredibly difficult to control a pass, run past the defender, shoot and still place the ball to beat the keeper.
I know he is a pro footballer and gets paid millions for doing this, but before anyone says "just a finisher" please think what an incredible skill it really is.
A new appreciation for Chicharito!

I wouldn't really say he's a great finisher. He's an incredible goal poacher - still an invaluable skill in itself. His movement in the box is unbelievable.

How is he not a great finisher, he is the most efficient striker in the EPL. I hope this is not about needing him to score magnificent goals, because a striker must score ugly or pretty and Chicharito does just that.

Don't know why people cannot accept what they see. Give chicarito the job pushing the ball in one direction before getting a shot off and it might as well be wasted. I remember in the Chelsea game, he pushed the ball into space only to completely miss the shot, in the box. Quite frankly what he wants is to one touch the ball into the net most preferably with his head. This is a fact. This player will not not thrive in a counter attack, or a passing team which wants linking up. Only one style suits him which we do play against poor teams or when we are behind. This is the only time I think he should be used.
Just think a player should do more than "his duty". Defenders should be able do more than kick the ball out, midfielders should do more than passing/creating eetc

"No it means you're a great poacher stop confusing these things"
Im not confusing them, finishing means taking advantage of your chances, its like in sales, one that makes the most deals out of the available bids is the best sales man. Same as goal scorers the most great finisher means the most efficient.
Like I said its not about the spectacle of the finish its about scoring, Chicharito score 1 in 4 chances RvP 1 in 7

using one example is not conclusive evidence, he has scored goals when he has taken a pass, Chelsea in the Capital one cup, Aston Villa in the EPL, Arsenal in the EPL. the majority of his goal are one touch yes but he has converted chances when he has controlled a pass

Usually players that are good finishers are capable of curling a shot round the keeper from distance

Yea, like his goal that sealed the league against Chelsea in 10/11....... what a peach of a goal, thanks for reminding me

A shame the amazing finisher Hernandez was incapable of staying onside in the CL final though

err... good come back.
Chico has scored a variety of goals against Chelsea... Including shots from distance. Which addresses your point.

Hernandez' finishing is outrageously overrated; an opinion I've maintained for some time. Like bloodred and tomatoes say, he is a brilliant poacher with some of the best movement you will see in a forward, but his technique is very unorthodox, and his finishing isn't as varied or refined as I would like. He would be better if he improved his overall technique, and would be more likely to score goals that take more than one touch inside the box. Rooney, for example is a much better finisher and has proven so with a variety of pull backs, nutmegs, scuffs, curlers and power shots into the corners. Hernandez is quite simply the better mover, therefore gets unmissable chances on a plate.
If we had to pick a player to score in a 1 vs 1 out of our four strikers I would pick Rooney all day long. Not Hernandez.
