Coulthard : Vettel could be greatest ever

There's been quite a lot of debate on here about how good Vettel is.

WTCBU maintains that the 25 year old 3 times world champion is "rubbish" and that he isn't one of the top 8 out of the current drivers and that he is not as good as Webber or Massa, whereas other posters claim he's one of the best of all time.

It's interesting to see what the real experts say :

SPEEDTV place Vettel 12th of all time.

YallaF1 place Vettel 10th of all time (higher than any other current driver)

Autosprint Magazine place Vettel 10th of all time (higher than any other current driver)

The BBC's F1 team place Vettel 8th of all time (higher than any other current driver)

Quite extraordinary for a 25 year old. No driver in the history of F1 has received such accolades at such a young age.

Interesting quote from ex formula 1 driver david coulthard below, who says that history could regard Vettel as THE GREATEST F1 DRIVER OF ALL TIME:

"Well, I think we could well be witnessing the development of the best driver ever in F1. We can’t say yet, of course. Only history will judge that. But the fact that Seb continues to improve every aspect of his game, from race craft to tyre management, building on his natural speed, is indisputable.

I don’t think the standard in Formula One has ever been higher than it is now. Fernando Alonso, Lewis Hamilton, Jenson Button, Mark Webber: these guys are world class. Michael Schumacher has come back and has discovered that first hand. Seb is simply outperforming everyone."

I think Vettel potentially has a shed full of wins and titles ahead of him. But things can change quickly in Formula One. I doubt that after 2006 people would have thought that 6/7 years later Alonso wouldnt have had a 3rd title, and also that Hamilton was still waiting for a 2nd.

I refuse to place any bets for what will happen over the next few years

must admit it is getting harder to predict anything in formula 1 anymore , none of us can safely predict what will happen in the next race let alone next year or the year after -

i just have a feeling that vettel has the necessary minerals to get the job done and then some -- anybody that has the bollox to tell the team that pays there wages where to shuv there team orders gets my vote --

drivers with a pair that big are just about non existent these days --

JPB - please do not feel embarrassed by thinking that your team was going to play on Saturday instead of Sunday. At least your article was a laugh and typical of your lack of knowledge of sport

You should in fact be more embarrassed by you paying any attention to Martial Artist on the F1 forum who knows even less about sport than you do.

Damp squids, dogs on leases, Gettysburg address being boring drawn out gobbledygook, McLaren MP4-28 fastest because it is an evolution, McLaren not having Mercedes engines in 2014 and to top it all “Monaco is a low downforce circuit”

I tried to encourage you to learn more about motorsport in order for you to be able to contribute to this forum. Instead you seem to worship Martial Artist – a nasty individual that is motivated solely by his personal hatred of Lewis Hamilton.

I tried to explain to you that greatness is not about stats but I think my point went over your head.

Your hero, Martial Artist, demonstrated his lack of knowledge by ridiculing Jim Clark and Graham Hill for winning Indy500 and Le Mans. He stated that F1 drives do not participate in those races. Well, 55 F1 drivers have won Le Mans 24 hours and 20 F1 drivers have won the Indy500.

F1 driver Dario Franchitti has won it 3 times.

ha ha ha -- WTCBU has slithered out from under his rock again to launch another unprovoked attack of bile against fellow members that have done him no harm --

he is so scared of me he wont even engage me one to one on here so he just launches little hate campaigns against me on other peoples threads --

you made a comment the other day that " schumacher outclassed senna on all levels "

if you have the guts to debate with me one to one about schumacher and senna which i know you wont have the guts because you have allways run away from me in the past -

but if you have the guts lets see just how much you do know about schumacher and senna and how " schumacher outclassed senna on all levels "

over to you if you have the guts to debate one to one with me instead of hiding on other peoples threads hurling cowardly abuse at everybody --
