Odd meaning out of ordinary. I was just wondering if any Forest fans could clarify on why it is a loan now and then is definitely becoming a permanent transfer next year. I haven't seen anything like this before myself where a permanant transfer is agreed before a loan move.
Maybe this is avoiding FFP (financial fair play) now and paying for a transfer next year if promoted and when it may not affect us as much. Surely this poses problems as he may not be good enough (I think he is good enough for the record) and then we don't like want him and therefore are lumbered with him so to speak.
So in summary, was just wondering if anybody could clarify why it is a loan which will then turn into a permanant deal regardless of Jack Hobbs, Nottingham Forest or Hull's thoughts next July?

Maybe Hull want to have a look at him playing regularly without consequence, and might have a recall clause in the loan period?

"we've plucked a brilliant centre half from the Premier League"
Crikey! When did this happen? What's his name? All I heard about was a crock Hull had on their books in the Championship and who they think is nowhere near up to it at the top level! Mind you, Hull's manager is only Steve Bruce, so it's not as if it's someone who knows anything about being a centre-half at the top level.

sporty dream on mate. Brilliant centre half Curtis Davies is deemed far superior...but lets not distract from what ive told you. This signing is high risk on all fronts. But im not bothered if u believe me or not..but it was nice to tell u.

Curtis Davies and Jack Hobbs are on much the same level. Seen as great prospects, but when tried in the PL not quite up to it (yet). Very capable at Championship level though.
For me he is a better CB than Wes; he can play left of centre and he is more comfortable on the ball. And I don't think he will be costing as much as Fester wanted for Westley

I don't rate Curtis Davies at all. I'm surprised Bruce thinks he's good enough for the Prem.
Backo, were you there when the contract was put together as it sounds like you know all the details?

Backo hardly knows the way to his outside loo...................
We are certainly strengthening the defence, that must and should have been a priority for a team aiming for auto's. We need to replace Google he may have been lazy I haven't seen him play being here in Brissle, however he added another dimension to our play. I don't think we have seen the best of the rest yet, with the addition of a couple of wingers Cox Dex and the rest should put together a reasonable tally over the season.
I just hope that McGugan doesn't score too many against us and we miss second on goal difference.

Backo, it does seem like you know an awful lot about this contract, but there again, you Derby folk are obsessed with our club.
I don't profess to be an expert but believe that this is a loan with the option of a pre-agreed contract at the end. If one of the parties does not want to enter this contract then they won't and he will be a free agent as his Hull contract would have expired. It seems like a very shrewd deal from us and gives both parties, but in particular us, some protection if the loan doesn't work out.

We're contractually obligated to sign him on a permanent at the end of the season, that would have been cited in the pre-contract signed by all parties. Even if he has a terrible upcoming season, he'll still be a Forest player the season after.
He would have been back-up for Davies & Fig in the Hull team. But he wants to play regular football.
Most Hull fans seem to rate him over Davies, from what I've read on various forums. However Bruce seems to disagree and he wasn't a bad CB in his day. However I think he'll be an excellent signing for us or any other championship club. He hasn't had the chance to prove himself in the Premier League, so we don't really know if he would have been able to cut it there. But he's already proven to be quite good at this level.
His wages went up at the end of the season with Hull, as that was a clause in his contract should Hull secure promotion. However, it's not anything we can't afford. Despite certain people insisting we're close to breaking FFP rules, we're nowhere near that mark. We still have sponsorship and supposed Kuwaiti TV deals to consider. I don't expect a Billionaire businessman to put his investment in danger. Maybe it's certain American businessmen being quite frugal with their money, using FFP as an excuse to do so, that has got our favourite neighbours feeling a little confused about the whole situation.

All this crap about it being Billy not caring about the club is very weak Derby boys. Everyone knows I have problems with Billy, but we've all seen that Fawaz is pretty cautious and sensible with his cash. We've bought a good defender on a sensible deal, so stop crying about it and get ready for your 20th season of mediocrity in a row.
