Booo...ends the Series!!!

England win Ashes with One of the most emphatic scoreline but the climax is accompanied by a huge Booo and dissatisfaction from the 'home' crowd, when there should've been a wild cheer and celebration at the historic feat. Nonsensical umpiring? Perhaps a fitting finish to what many have called un-entertaining ,DRS-marred, bizarre series?
But, in a way, this dissatisfaction is good in a way, because people are now expecting eagerly the return series. Fans are left hungry and not fed up, which bodes well for winter. There's a fear that fans interest level would diminish in back to back series but the final test's unsatisfactory ending has left fans and players with sense of "this is not complete, see you in november" kind of feeling.
At last, congratulation to England and also well played to Australia who were competitive throughout.
But 'not well done' to the umpires.
Lets hope the return series will be epic!!!

thats interesting Robbie thanks for that - hadn't seen that before! Technically speaking then i suppose you can kinda say we aren't too far behind the Aussies. Interesting stats on SA also, i was looking at the records and we aint done so well against them in the past! Interesting also on India i would kind of have put them ahead of Pakistan but not so!!

Aus w/l ratio
is better than that of 2nd best by 40%, that of 2nd best is better than 3rd by only about 12%.
Hence, there's not much difference in your stat between 2nd best and other team that that follows.
But thats a gulf between 1st and rest.
Also, what about ODI? Hasnt Australia won 40% of all World cups, which most outside Eng-Aus consider the most coveted trophy in world of cricket?
So, if there's any team that deserve to be called Greatest, Proudest and Championest , then its Australia and Australia only.

Australia have won a whooping 46% of all matches they have played.
Next best SA has 36%, Eng 35%,WI 32%.
In other word Australia stand alone at the top whichever way you look at, whereas other team are on similar standing.

your getting boring Kharse - I've already pointed out several times that its changing and why its changing. Nuff said as far as I am concerned. The assessment is only true of the past, not of the future

drbantam,

Our most miserable period was 1975-95, the years of WI domination. They were especially harsh on us.

I was only providing support to what is already universally accepted.
I know the present doesnt look good but I think, judging from track record of supreme Australia, this current bad form or predicament is just another Silence before the Storm.
Its always darkest before dawn.

No you weren't - you even went as far as to try and spell out what you were saying I quote - "So, if there's any team that deserve to be called Greatest, Proudest and Championest , then its Australia and Australia only.

For 16 consecutive years, Australia could not win a series vs West Indies at home or on tour. That was between 1977-1993 when Australia went without a series win in 8 consecutive series vs WI. They were not always the most dominant team.
