Loan signings!!

Kalifa Cisse and Simon Dawkins today joined Derby County on trial, the Rams have revealed.

Mali international Cisse is currently a free agent after leaving MLS side New England Revolution earlier this year while Tottenham Hotspur forward Dawkins is after regular first-team football.

Derby said on their website that the pair took part in training for the first time this morning and that new manager Steve McClaren will assess them over the next week to determine whether they will be offered a contract.

Cstander, you haven't a clue how good those players are or whether they would be a good fit (or otherwise) in Derby's side, or whether we are considering them for cover to add a little depth to the squad.

Still, let's not let that get in the way of a good (for 'good', read 'pathetic' whine, eh?

Pass me a pair of your rose coloured glasses because everything is rosy at DCFC. Eddie why would they be for cover if we are down to the bare bones?

j666, Mostyn, DcfcChris, Ramsfanbaz et al are all officially happy clappers.

None so blind as those who do not wish to see.

Just carry on sticking those pins in your eyes, Cstander. Like banging your head against a brick wall, I'm sure it will feel great when you stop.

I just don't get worked up and all whiny about things like you do - but I will correct you on your last statement.

There's none so blind as the person who thinks that he can see everything.

You were doing well there C stander until you brought my name in to it.

While I was happy to see Clough go and make no apologies for that I was not happy with McClaren as a replacement and actually said part of me wished I had been more careful what I had wished for when SMc was unveiled.

As for these 2 signings, trial or not I can assure you that I am not happy and think you are right - many fans would have been going crazy if Clough had entertained the idea of signing them.

So respect for questioning the McClaren love in but no respect for inventing comments that aren't there

Oh No!!

Derby County are actually looking at players before signing them!!! Who has sanctioned such an outrage?!!

Bring back Simon Clough!!!

Come on 666. If Clough had even looked at these players the reaction on here would have been overwhelmingly negative.

That is blindingly obvious.

I certainly don't want Simon Clough back but I'm a bit of a stickler for fairness and applying standards consistently.

Nigel Clough got away with signing some absolute no-marks. Signing Michael Boulding was a disgrace, but still, even the most opposed to Nigel's management amongst us allowed the players a chance to play.

The only one I opposed was Eustace, simply cos he'd been here and been largely a failure, a couple of years earlier.

Being on trial means nothing. McClaren won't pick worse players than ones he has got, it makes no sense.

When Stevie Mac actually SIGNS a Connor Doyle and then EXTENDS his contract, then I'll be a bit peeved but, until then, it's all gravy.

I'd love to see instances of this outrage that apparently occurred whenever Clough looked at a player or even signed one; I've been on the forums since well before his time and the only player I think caused any level of a stir was the signing and re-negotiating of Robert Savage's contract.

Razor blades on standby...

Some people have a strange way of looking at things. I bet some people think that Igor offered his resignation to Croatia (subsequently accepted) in order to come to Derby.
