He's spot on

We showed a lot of grit and character yesterday night but the warning signs are there. The cold hard facts show that in our 13 away games we've only won 5 (could easily have been 4 after yesterday) and have conceded 23 goals in these 13 games. Our home form is what is clearly compensating for this poor record at the moment and it has to improve for the rest of the season. Kolo made a calamitous error yesterday and Skrtel also for the second but how often would we see these sort of errors at Anfield regardless of the personnel? I also think with the firepower we have selecting the quartet of SSS and Coutinho does leave us vulnerable to the counter at times when playing at away grounds where teams set out to stop us.
As for Stevie, at the beginning of the season where he wasn't having the best of games there were posters on here calling for him to be dropped but again after having had a run at DM he has proved what a player he is. He was again simply superb yesterday and his reading of the game is second to none. It is what has made him adaptable in so many positions..he's played on the right wing, number 10 and even right back in the CL final under Rafa. Has played as a CM and is now playing as that DM one of the most crucial roles in the team. I would argue he has taken to that position better than even Lucas has and at this rate he might struggle to get back into the first XI. One thing that he does so well is also intercepts the ball at the crucial moment and is far better in the tackle than Lucas is - obviously the odd mistake will be made (Ox-Chamberlain tackle) but for the best part he has been superb.
One thing is for sure it will be a very sad day for this football club when our captain decides to hang up his boots. Players like him who not only have the quality and adaptability on the pitch but remain loyal to one club throughout their lifetime only come along once in a generation. If anyone deserves a PL medal it really is Steven Gerrard

An extreme long shot but a PL medal would make his honours list complete, and nobody deserves it more.

That pass was just simply breath-taking. He saw the through ball and then slipped and then still got up and put it on the plate for Sturridge

I'm struggling to see how Lucas gets back into the team if everyone is fit.

Who said Stevie wasn't having the best of games at the beginning?
Certainly I wasn't one of them as I watched him playing very well, providing chance after chance. Bar a few bad games, which every player has he has been one of our best players.

I'd have him in for difficult away games.

If Gerrard keeps playing like he has been recently, anything could happen. He could win football writers POTY and guide us to who knows what. He is clearly loving being in the mix at the top.
As for the away form, when you look at our final 6 away fixtures, only the next one Southampton away looks particularly tough, plus the derby at Old Trafford.
The other 4 are against teams no better than Fulham. Now we have to go to these places and do the business, but there is no reason why with defenders returning our away record won't look better come the end of the season.
We have won 4 out of 6 in the away games against bottom half teams, only losing at Hull. Thats the same as Chelsea, and better than Man City who have only won 3 out of 8 away games against bottom half teams.

This thing is on if we finally tighten up at the back.
Carry on making individual errors and its goodnight vienna.
