It's not the point because supporting a team in the 3rd division while admirable did not come into the equation of him supporting Chelsea. Tommy is saying that if he was a glory hunter he would have gone for United or Arsenal but he chose a Chelsea and then Roman came and the rest as we say is history. Surely a City fan would be least likely to use that insult as they would be sick of the phrase being used against fans of their own club.

My point was that he chose to support Chelsea exactly 5 months before Roman took over your club. He is clearly foreign meaning he chose the reason to support Chelsea himself. Im sorry but nobody who picks who they support chooses the club and suddenly loves them. Do you honestly believe if Chelsea got relegated the next season and Abramovich left these foreigners would support the club?
Its the same with us now, except i seem to be able to face up to it.

Not all of them no, that is true, but to suggest none of the would is stupid as well, I would hope and imagine that the Op judging by his comments being insightful and knowledgeable about the club would be one of the ones to remain.
