When I say individual performances I meant the tournament as a whole. He dominated it.

Like a Garrincha, Maradona or Platini in 84.

if that penalty had gone in, in 1994 and Italy had won the WC everyone would think the same aswell

---------------

if that penalty had gone in....... ...Brazil would STILL have won by scoring THEIR next kick. Which is why i get really angry and the way people talk about that penalty as if its Baggio's legacy because it's not. You can probably tell he's one of my favourite ever players too.

Unfortunately, people in Britain seem to love remembering failures as much as glories which is maybe why England have the worst record on penalties of every single country in FIFA and Scotland have found a multitude of ways to not qualify from the Group Stages, whilst Wales produce world class players every generation and still somehow never get anywhere...

Agreed, Baggio in 94 and Maradona in 86 are too most stand-out examples of one player carrying a team to a final...

Fair enough. Didn't take into account that he didn't star at a World Cup.

Although that Torino side made up a fair chunk of the Italy squad I think.

Shearer has to be in & around an England squad as well for me. One of our very few world class performers in the past 20 years.

I think I'm right in saying that Italy once put out a team with all the Torino players except for the goalkeeper. They were a phenomenal team by all accounts.
