Is Deontay Wilder going to be the fighter we've all been waiting for who can genuinely challenge Vlad for the Heavyweight title ?
Or is Wilder just another Michael Grant who looks like he has greatness about him only to get found out when he fights the real elite fighters of the division ?
Personally I haven't made my mind up and the truth is probably somewhere in between.
Having said that Wilder certainly has some impressive attributes such as size, aggression, punching power etc. At the same time I'm not entirely convinced by him from a technical perspective.
Whether or not Wilder is eventually able to get a fight with Vlad remains to be seen but I suspect that Wilder will be the Heavyweight Champ at some point in the future after the Klitschko era is over.
Deontay Wilder - next Heavyweight Champ ?

Yeah Wilder vs Fury would get me very excited. A fight that Wilder probably needs to take before he can even think about Vlad. As you say he's not quite ready for Vlad yet.

They will don't worry.
The winner of Wilder v Fury would potentially get a shot at Vlad.
Interesting times ahead.

The heavyweight division is still shallow in my opinion. There isn't a deep well of talent in there.

I agree but things are starting to look up for the first time in a while. Anthony Joshua is coming up and I wouldn't rule out David Haye coming back, he keeps saying he will anyway.
Having an American Heavyweight Champion holding at least one of the belts is significant as it will reignite interest in what appeared to be a dying weight division.

The talent isn't quite there yet (although a few have the chance to step up) however I am very excited about it, there are a few I thinking bidding their time and plotting their routes cautious taking a Klitch fight too early and putting their career back. I am however very excited because there are some contrasting styles and a little group potentially quite well matched and also I think we have some good british interest.
have to say Superb I'd think although Wilder has a chance I can't see him unifying or holding on to major belts for long and think our boys in Joshua and Fury may take him.
Fury is hyped by some and called up as a joke by others but I'm fascinated to see how he does over the next few years and I really like Joshua, I think he's potentially the best of the lot and after an embarrassing period of behaviour by british heavyweight boxers in recent years and crucially I actually like the guy and can get behind him.
