Writing on the wall -action now!

Another loss –bottom of the league and staring down the gun barrel- we have to effect change- certainly in the strength of the squad.

Yesterday we afforded on of the weakest teams in the Premiership 32 attempts on goal – a record.
This cannot continue and we are not just lalking back five. We have a midfield who all want to look good moving foeward and show a fair degree of flair in this and in Cambassio –his skill and perception on the ball is excellent.

However we are not doing the hard yards and nobody is putting the foot in and stopping opponent moves. Covering back is either reluctant –Mahrez for instance or lacking pace –Cambiasso for instance – James should not be out there in a Premiership team.

Never thought I would miss Hammond but at least he stopped other people playing and did the unglamorous graft. Krancjar had freedom of park –thank goodness Sandro was missing.
Also think we might consider a partnership of Wasilewski and Moore –Morgan is really struggling. Also time to give Hamer a chance.

What is important now is our club – not any individuals. We are in the Premiership and have benefited from massive investment already from our owners and the only place to preserve this is in this league.

Whatever decision is necessary now must be supported by the fans but for sure Pearson will have to sit down and rethink the ability of his squad as patently they are not good enough –whatever was his original assessment.

Players like Nugent, Wood .Knockaert – must go – decisions must be taken whether others like Albrighton and Upson should continue on the payroll- we need to free up finance for strategic signings in January –otherwise we will be relegated.

The owners are entitled to have action plan on potential signings quickly and make decisions – recent European International qualifying should have seen massive attention from Pearson and his advisers.

If he sticks to current mantra that we are good enough –he will lose his job

Now we as supporters need to be ther Tuesday against a Liverpool side –lacking in confidence- and add massive vocal support to the club – we can get a result and we MUST

Take your point on Krancjar btw, if he's a prem Gallagher not sure what that makes Matthew Upson though.....

I'm with MerseysideFox on this. While going down is clearly undesirable and something we should and will fight against to the end, it is survivable for the club. On the other hand, it looks near disastrous for QPR. Maybe they do look like they have more chance of staying up now, but the stakes are way, way to high for my liking.

Well clearly Dunge a balance needed to have been found, but its not as if we have avoided the Rio Ferdinand type signing ourselves with the £2m in wages alone Cambiasso deal.

Granted QPR looked stuffed and I don't recommend we follow their policy, however the owners indicated we had the money to go and do better than Upson, Albrighton and a few for the development squad.

There's nothing wrong with a Rio Ferdinand-type signing per se, as long as it isn't Rio Ferdinand.

We must bear in mind that the only possibility of the owners recovering their £140 million investment is in Premiership football - worth around £100 million in turnover - which will increase over next two years.

This must be their priority and Pearson must provide action to strengthen squad - meanwhile let's go and beat Liverpool

What does that make Upson?

I think it's harsh to judge a player who's yet to pull on the shirt for us, even if it doesn't look to be the most ambitious signing.

If he remains injured for the rest of the season, it makes him an absolute waste of money, but he is an ex England international who has prem experience and an excellent season behind him.

That said, I also don't expect much from him but it's wrong to judge yet.

Anyway, as you'll know by now I don't feel central defence is a problem area for us. It's the opposition midfield walking through our wide areas that's hurting us.

So, we all agree we need to strengthen, and most of us feel Pearson should be given the opportunity to do that.

Let's hope he gets it right (gulp).

Before then we need to stay in touch. So as per JG's note, let's get behind our men tonight. A result would be wonderful.

When other fans are laughing at your signings you generally start getting a feeling we may have had a bad window.

The Upson signing was derided by many and it looked worse when Pearson said he had an important role to play. Nugent is also an ex England international but he's awful, so that doesnt really carry much weight.

Upson had a good season in the championship last season and thats his level. A pointless waste of a signing and as its December and he's yet to put a shirt on, I think anyone would struggle to make a case that we should have gone for him

BS how can you right off someone who's never even played for us?

Nev, I don't need to see him in a leicester shirt to figure out we should have looked elsewhere to shore up our defence. And it's not just me questioning this signing, a number of eyebrows were raised from rival fans....
