I agree with every word JG
Why hasn't knockaert been givena chance in this league?
Agree with adding why the heck did he just give RDL a new contract and not even give Simpson a go? Why bother to sign players and not even try them? He has played 20 mins after RDL went off injured.
Are we not in danger of chucking the baby out with the bath water here.
Despite your concerns, Pearson has a successful track record, I do though concede this run is looking pretty similar to that horrendous run the back end of two season ago which Pearson admittedly was unable to arrest - And that protracted crisis of confidence is what needs to be resolved to get us firing again. I wonder if all we need is a decent sports psychologist to get them thinking they're world beaters again.
I agree this sounds too simplistic to be the answer, but I hope we are trying it.
Well, I can't quite believe I'm writing this but I agree with everything you say John. Our Championship side have failed to step up to the next level & now we are in desperate need of quality players. The problem is , can we attract quality in January to a struggling team. I see maybe more loans than signings. Like you I still think we can turn Liverpool over on Tuesday & I'll be there to give the lads my support.
I think, TB aside, we would all agree with the sentiments of this post that something needs to happen, the question is what?
Such has been the owners trust in Pearson I actually am not sure a firm contingency plan is in place. Pearson has recently been given a new longer term contract, not a 12m one, because the owners envisaged him as a long term manager at this club
So the question I want to ask you JG is what would you do if you were in charge?
Would you terminate Pearsons contract, who would you bring in and what players would you target?
What change would you make John?
I was gutted after yesterday's result. We played some nice football and created good chances but we didn't take them and were punished for being way to open at the back.
We've all been waiting to see some players steo up but bar your mate Cambiasso I think everyone's place is in question.
I genuinely believe In Pearson, but it looks like he underestimated the step up. I hope he uses January to fix that with these changes:
Premiership Central midfielder. Box to box player who can help Cambiasso and DD deliver to their potential.
Striker. Boy we need a pacy and powerful striker.
Two new full backs please to shore up our leaky defence and have the ability to put quality in to the box.
Unfortunately I have very few suggestions as to who. I just pray Walsh is working miracles.
It will be interesting to see whether our owners back or sack Pearson. I really don't want to go back to a managerial merry-go-round, so I hope Pearson manages to turn this round.
Yesterday hurt.
Lets be honest unless we bring in 3 or 4 quality signings we are doomed!
In goal we have a shot stoper but a real liability on corners free kicks etc, due to height and strength.
Vardy for all his effort hasn't quite got the control.
Nuget is half hearted in any sort of challenge.
Schlupp still has a lot to learn.
RDL has always been one of my favorites but yesterday I saw him ball watching too many times.
Hard luck on Wes but he has found things tough.
I have said many times I dont think any money is really available without a bank loan, off set against future TV money.
Without investment we shall struggle and I dont think Nigel should be held accountable for the meagre team investment so far
Sourcing Premiership players is a European/world task not looking only around UK. For instance Czech Republic, Poland, Slovakia ,Romania all top their groups and usually yield good class but hard working midfield players - we should have dossiers on every one and be in touch with European agents.
In UK -I would make an offer to West Ham for Nolan - not only as a player but a leader on the pitch - woe betide anyone not pulling their weight -he will take them apart. Check out Ta Vez and make an offer for Rhodes at Blackburn - he will get goals in any environment
We have to send messages to players and agents that Leicester is determined to be a Premiership Club.
In terms of what actions I would take BS -same as my everyday business. If a client company is failing on targets -I ask first the existing management for turn round action plan- if they protect the status quo -they are out - if they recognise and have plan for change -and it makes sense -back them
Interesting points John
Nolan is a very good shout, would he jump ship from West Ham, possibly not but worth a try. Rhodes would command an excessive fee but I've no doubt he will score goals at this level
The problem for us is the longer this run goes on then the more it impacts our ability to sensibly invest in Jan. Agents can smell desperation a mile away and a team at the bottom of both the form table and premier league table will have to pay a premium for signings, because they can't afford not to make any.
All clubs and agents will be aware of Leicesters predicament and will adjust demands accordingly as Arsenal found when hunting for another striker last January.
It means the owners will now have to consider the possibility of adjusting any wage cap and paying premium transfer fees for their targets.
Had we adequately prepared for this season through proper investment in the summer then we wouldn't be in this predicament
For me Nigel has 2 games to get a win. Failure to do do should result in Pulis being brought into assess the squad ahead of Jan with the owners. Even without any signings he would plug the defensive leaks
Blackstarr
How can Pulis plug the defence without signings?
We can change the goalie but little else?
I work with 2 Palace fans who loved Pullis. Were gutted when he left. He is not long ball, just a well organised manager who gets his team organised at the back and breaks quickly. They find it laughable people think he is long ball. He would add in the window but I think organise a defence that needs to work out how to defend set peices better.
He would give us some prem stability, then you keep looking to improve.
Pearson has found his level. Really sad to say this but he doesn't have what it takes, in my opinion, to manage a team to survive in the prem. It's just a question on when I think.
Hairy, the same way as he plugged the defence when joining palace. It's how he organises and sets his teams up to be hard to beat that gives him so much success
I honestly believe that with the same group of players, Pulis would organise Leicester better than Pearson is doing currently. It was a great game to watch yesterday but we just threw caution out the window at times which at this level will cost you
We need a sensible balance between being hard to beat and creating chances and while it's clear we need players, I wouldn't bet against Pulis being able to stop the rot in the short term
I actually think the crucial element missing is a Captain on the pitch, someone to rally the troops and organise on the pitch, I don't see that from Morgan.
Just to be clear ( BS ) I fully trust the owners to make the right decisions, if that's Pearson leaving then I support that decision, I must admit though I wouldn't be keen on Pulis and can't think of any other Manager available that could guarantee safety so personally it's better the devil you know.
I'd stick with NP if we are in a similar position at Xmas, 2 points from safety and success.
The next two games really do seem to be make or break as two defeats would leave a widening gap and force a decision out of the owners.
I don't believe any other manager could manage this set if players better than Pearson.
If he was to be sacked, the owners would have to back the new man with cash.
Its commendable that NP gave last year's team the opportunity in the big time but I think we all worried when the season started that we'd only added Ulloa to the first XI. The addition of Cambiasso was a great one but 10 ex-championship players making up the starting XI has been shown to be too many. We lack guile, experience and consistency.
There are big question marks over Kasper, RDL (4yr contact???), Morgan (despite a great start), Knockaert, Konch and Wood.
DD, James, King, Moore, Schlupp and Vardy need some experience around them. Nugent has proved beyond any reasonable doubt that he's not up to it. We deserve an explanation of why Albrighton hasn't featured and what is the point of Powell and Simpson?
We need 4/5 signings in January, players who know this league and are battle hardened. We simply can't afford to go down.
Disagree Mersey, Pearson is a very good manager but he's not Mourinho. Pulis has never been relegated and what he achieved with Palace was astonishing given the dross he had to work with
Not saying we shouldn't give NP another couple of games but id bank on Pulis getting a bit more from this lot. He probably wouldn't play Nugent for a start. Or James
TB I nearly fell over when I read your post. You'd be ok with the owners sacking NP after Liverpool for e.g, should we lose?
No, if we lost to Liverpool and Villa, it's their choice and I'd be ok with THEIR decision.
DonnyBlue totally agree with that!! We all watch the same games.... Nugent would not even be on the bench for Burnley. I just lost it at the TV when he came on and said " Nige needs to go for sticking with this person alone!!
Ok so should we lose to Liverpool and Villa and the owners sack him, you would support that. Fair enough, I think many would agree
I disagree with your disagreement BS, so I guess we'll have to agree to disagree.
Pulis has generally had success with building a solid back line and then finding ways of creating chances. If he made our team solid with these players I think he'd experience the same problem as Pearson and goals would dry up.
We need more pace going forward to play that way.
Whether it's a new manager or not, I'm now fully in the camp of needing to strengthen.
Lets start with a "Captain Fantastic"
No disagreement on the fact we need to strengthen, this squad isn't good enough, Pulis or no Pulis. The question is could he do better with this group until new signings come in, and on the evidence of last year with palace I would say yes
Additionally I would trust him with the funds in Jan to spend in a way NP didn't in the summer

As much as I defended Nuge earlier this year for his work rate, there can be no doubt in my mind that he should have been sold to Boro.
