well its cost us £2 million in wages and fees for Cambiasso - you have to judge us and QPR as we finished the season - not select dates - they were significantly worse than us over the season 22 points

Actually at this stage we were one point better than them so I'd guess there hasn't be a whole lot of change!
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Of course we can do that, when the season's over!
Can't have it both ways to suit yourself.
PS lets see, Cambiasso or RIO ???
Hmmm, Sandro or Nick Powell? Krancjar or Marc Albrighton? Steven Caulker or Matthew 'championship' Upson?
So bad has our transfer policy been QPR have actually off-loaded one of their players to us......
I'm even starting to think Burnley might have had a better window
Don't get me started on Leroy Fer or Tom Lawrence....
Thinking about that Blackstar. Why exactly do you think you bought Simpson ?
I have no idea RR. I was hoping it was because Pearson thought DeLaet wasn't up to it, but then again Harry obviously didn't rate Simpson much
Krancjar is a duff shout there BS. He was a great player but the game looks to be passing him by now - he's a bit like a Premiership Paul Gallagher.
Sandro and Caulker obviously strong signings, but at what wages?
If we and QPR were to go down, I know only one of us would have a cats chance in hell of meeting FFP. Let's be honest, QPR only dodged that bullet by going up in the first place.
The picture is bigger than that. Even you know that.
We must invest to improve, but I feel like a stuck record when I repeat, not at all costs.
Simpson's a full back with pace, you could do with givin im a run out.
RRtheDrum - trust me, many of us would prefer him to be getting a run out over Richie De Laet!!
No one is suggesting we should break the bank Mersey, but a handful of free transfers and Ulloa was never really going to cut it at this level was it?

Cheeky b@stard...
Take your point on Krancjar btw, if he's a prem Gallagher not sure what that makes Matthew Upson though.....
I'm with MerseysideFox on this. While going down is clearly undesirable and something we should and will fight against to the end, it is survivable for the club. On the other hand, it looks near disastrous for QPR. Maybe they do look like they have more chance of staying up now, but the stakes are way, way to high for my liking.
Well clearly Dunge a balance needed to have been found, but its not as if we have avoided the Rio Ferdinand type signing ourselves with the £2m in wages alone Cambiasso deal.
Granted QPR looked stuffed and I don't recommend we follow their policy, however the owners indicated we had the money to go and do better than Upson, Albrighton and a few for the development squad.
There's nothing wrong with a Rio Ferdinand-type signing per se, as long as it isn't Rio Ferdinand.
We must bear in mind that the only possibility of the owners recovering their £140 million investment is in Premiership football - worth around £100 million in turnover - which will increase over next two years.
This must be their priority and Pearson must provide action to strengthen squad - meanwhile let's go and beat Liverpool
What does that make Upson?
I think it's harsh to judge a player who's yet to pull on the shirt for us, even if it doesn't look to be the most ambitious signing.
If he remains injured for the rest of the season, it makes him an absolute waste of money, but he is an ex England international who has prem experience and an excellent season behind him.
That said, I also don't expect much from him but it's wrong to judge yet.
Anyway, as you'll know by now I don't feel central defence is a problem area for us. It's the opposition midfield walking through our wide areas that's hurting us.
So, we all agree we need to strengthen, and most of us feel Pearson should be given the opportunity to do that.
Let's hope he gets it right (gulp).
Before then we need to stay in touch. So as per JG's note, let's get behind our men tonight. A result would be wonderful.
When other fans are laughing at your signings you generally start getting a feeling we may have had a bad window.
The Upson signing was derided by many and it looked worse when Pearson said he had an important role to play. Nugent is also an ex England international but he's awful, so that doesnt really carry much weight.
Upson had a good season in the championship last season and thats his level. A pointless waste of a signing and as its December and he's yet to put a shirt on, I think anyone would struggle to make a case that we should have gone for him

BS how can you right off someone who's never even played for us?
Nev, I don't need to see him in a leicester shirt to figure out we should have looked elsewhere to shore up our defence. And it's not just me questioning this signing, a number of eyebrows were raised from rival fans....
Pay peanuts and get monkeys.... Is what a mate of mine here who is a Man C. supporter ( Oh can not wait for that game...) Said about us signing Upson but what would he know?
