Afternoon chaps. I was just reading about the recent England team, when I noticed Tom Ince has refused to play for England U21s, saying he wants to concentrate on his club career.

Tom Ince refuses to play for England under-21s
Hull winger turns down the chance to play for his country at the European Championships
Tom Ince, the son for former England captain Paul, has refused to play for the Under-21 as he wants to concentrate on his club career.
The snub has not gone down well with Gareth Southgate, the under-21 manager, who has warned it could spell the end of his international career.
Southgate was so surprised at the player's decision last week that he rang to check he knew what he was doing. He also asked his former England teammate Paul whether he had thought things through properly.
"I've have had discussions with Tom and his dad over the last week or so and he has decided he does not want to considered for the Under-21s.
"I have to say I was surprised. He has obviously been a regular for us all the way through the campaign.
"But he feels at this moment in time he has got some priorities at club level. There is some uncertainty about where he is going to be at club level next season."
Ince is currently on loan at Derby County in the Championship after a summer move to Hull City failed to see him secure a regular first team spot.

What's your thoughts? Has he officially waved goodbye to any sort of England International career? I think so.

and regarding Carrick, he was capped a lot
look at the competitiive fixtures he played in, it's not good reading.
there seems to be a myth bandied about that had we only played Carrick we would have been much better, he did play and that didn't happen
one match v Ecquador seems to be the only redeeming event
He's a good player, but please stop with the 'only if...he would have been our saviour' nonsense. It's patently not true.

I think this was while he was playing for Blackpool.

I think the idiot gene has definitely been passed from father to son.

I've watched Tom since he was a kid but he hit his cieling at about 20 really. You can tell he's had loads of coaching from a young age but he's been to a few clubs and it's just not happened.
He's quite good at a lot of things but excels at nothing really. I find it odd that he's pulled out of the U21's but I'd be very surprised indeed if he got a senior call up in his career. He's not even outperforming players like Routledge.

Carrick has 31 caps. Most seem to be him coming on as a sub. Not much time to shine. Personally think Carrick isn't the type of player England and the English like. England doesn't play that way. It is why we have Hodgeson. He suits the England way. The change in coaching is needed first before we will see a different England. Against the best sides, nations were should be competing with based on reputation, England come up inferior more often than not. Lampard and Gerrards' failure at international level were due to this. England and English players still need to evolve. At the moment, England is behind.

I think Ince could definitely get a call up a bit later. It all depends on him really. He made a bad decision leaving Liverpool and then bad decision after bad decision. The talent is there, he needs to stop looking at the future and stay at one side a perform for them.
When he has consistently shown that he can play at a good level and teams come in for him, then he can look at his future. He's got the raw talent but he needs to work not mess around moving clubs every season.

I think the initial reason for leaving Liverpool wasn't bad, it was what he did when leaving Blackpool that hasn't been good at all. He was ding great there and along with zaha touted as great future prospects. Some even said he was better off the two. He needs a better advisor than his dad.

Yeah possibly. However he was doing very well for the youth and reserve side at Liverpool and would have made the step up like many who played with him and around the same time. That education and familiar surroundings as well as coming up with players he knew and had worked with could have served him well. He wasn't willing to wait. Too inpatient in my opinion. He was always going to get chances at Liverpool as all young players who should the potential and work ethic do.
