I think we need a defensive midfielder as much as a striker personally.

We've conceded 43, 50, and 48 in Rodgers 3 seasons.

No real sign of progress there. I don't believe we can expect to win anything with glorious gung ho football, even though we came spectacularly close in 13/14.

We need balance.

To be fair 9 of those goals were in our final two matches where the players obviously couldn't give a fack. I

think we did improve considerably defensively. In the period we had a decent striker fit we won a lot of matches because we didn't need many chances to win matches. Hopefully we may be able to repeat this next season.

At this rate we are going to end up with another 8-9 new players which was something I wanted to avoid. If someone told me hypothetically speaking that we completed the deals for Clyne, Kovacic and Tevez this week I would be happy with the summer business and leave Lucas and Can to take ownership of the DM role.

When we started defending better we stopped scoring goals.

We were a better a balanced team because first half of the season we weren't scoring and were conceding too many.

Then we became a team that conceded few and scored few. We only did that with a back 3 though.

We have never looked good defensively in a 4 with Rodgers.

We have never scored a lot without a back 4 either though.

A top DM IMO would contribute massively to the defensive balance while allowing us to attack in numbers that means we score plenty.

I notice Kovacic has played as a playmaker for Inter though, which makes me think Rodgers may see him at the base of midfield.

This could be exciting and make us good to watch again, but I think we would concede a ton too.

I'm sure we are buying with more than one formation in mind. 4-3-3 & 4-4-2 diamond as well as 3-4-3.

Either way, we need a Right back, with Johnson gone, Flanagan injured and Manquilo not quite good enough. Clyne would be good or maybe Montoya from Barca.
