PC or Console Gaming?

There are many reasons to choose either console or PC gaming. I am here to show why PC gaming is still the best way to go.

- PC has a virtually endless catalog of games dating back decades that you can play on a newer machine if your heart desires. With the lack of games for newer consoles so apparent you can play classics on a PC until you die of old age if you have the time.

- PC has the most exclusives. While the PC isnt one company and trying to belittle the competition (rivals), like Sony or Microsoft have set their hearts on, the library of PC exclusive games will never be surpassed by consoling.

- Over all, you will save a lot of money on PC gaming. The likely higher cost of initially buying/building a PC is EASILY countered by the fact that you can get games at a fraction of the cost of consoles routinely standard priced games. For the price of one console game you could get near 30 games through Steam sales/Humble Bundle deals. For the shifty folk you can pay even less if you know how

*it is NOT necessary to build an ultra gaming rig to enjoy PC gaming

- PC is the best platform to work on for developers. Unreal Engine 4, Unity 5, Valve's Source 2...all will push gaming forward. PC's limits really are only as far as these engines will allow them which are far away from the present if past engines are anything to go by. While consoles will look to limit gaming on their systems. Of course they have no choice when you are not allowed to upgrade their systems at any point.

- Indie gaming thrives on PC. While a few may break through Playstations stores they have to work ridiculously hard just to get considered, let alone allowed onto it. Microsoft have take a more hard-nosed approach and most indie developers have given up on them. On PC they are given free reign with some AMAZING results.

- Early access, while risky at times in terms of coming across some con man-esque developers looking for a quick cash grab, allow for a personalized relationship with developers during the early stages of the game. Giving you the ability to report bugs, suggest tweaks or new features, gain special exclusives or other positives. It can make you feel better about giving your money away and also bring you closer into a community of gamers.

- Modding will not be touched by consoles no matter how successful it can be. Use Skyrim as an example. While a decent game on its own it is truly masterful when modded on the PC. Allowing you to fine tune the game to what you believe it shouldve have been or to try crazy things just because you want to. Modding communities on PC are strong and often extremely helpful to those who want to learn HOW to mod games themselves.

- FREE ONLINE GAMING

- Overall I believe aside from maybe not being as stylish or not having the comfort of sitting on the couch while playing the positives of PC gaming far outshine the few positives console gaming have. Sure consoles will have different VR technology (which may spiral into oblivion like the kinect/move) the PC will have 4k resolution and all you can ever want from gaming. You can use gaming controllers if you need to. Though consoles dont have mouse and keyboard gaming that are required for certain genres. Really all you have to do is ask yourself, "has any console this gen been worth my money?"

I atually prefer FPS' on pad and console than pc, keyboard n mouse....wait for it .. you require more skill on a pad !

Wait for it , and you PC users stop foaming at the mouth as you read this !

Firstly I aint saying that its technically better than the keyboard obv its easier to aim using the mouse and keyboard... hence why i prefer the pad. Its gives a greater gap in the skilled players. As I said its easier to hip fire, precision aim and deal with recoil on a mouse therefore its therefore harder to get headshots and deal with recoil etc on a pad.

For me one of the reasons that CoD became so poor was it catered to the masses and made aiming far easier, less recoil and headshots galore. Ie it dumbed down the difficulty. I feel this is similar to what happens with Keyboard and mouse anyone can get headshots using that however put recoil and distance onto a console and pad and the skilled players stand out a helluva lot more.

Sorry delboy but what a pile of steaming <please enter animal of choice and prefered fe ces> its like me suggesting the same with driving games and steering wheels vs game pads. Difference is most console fps games have aim assist, any competitive pc game does not.

Definitely harder on a pad. But it's harder for everyone so...

I take aim assist off Simon, absolutely hate it, It automatically draws your cursor to the enemies chest (not where I wanna be aiming, it can also affect your aim on a guy if another enemy runs by it draws your aim). All i can do is compare from what i have seen on early planetside PC and PS4 where cross platform and the PC players wiped the floor with the PS4 players. And i mean demolished them so much so they had to do away with it there was far far too much bias. Personally I have tried both and have been thinking about buying the keyboard and mouse for the PS4 just for my shooters. C'mon Simon for precision aiming and especially games like Battlefield especially there is a MASSIVE difference between ease of firing on a mouse and control pad ...... tell me this what is the preferred choice for shooters on PC is it pad or mouse ..... well we know its mouse .... then ask .. why? cos its far far easier to use, more precice and quicker

ps simon there are actually some games in which pads are faster than wheels !! ie need for speeds were developed FOR the pad and not the wheel there is also sometimes hidden steering assists built into the game for pad users. I could go into it in depth but would ruin this thread and be pretty boring i imagine

I am not saying it isnt easier, but just to say getting head shots is soooo easy on mouse and keyboard and thus controllers means more skill is so far off the mark. Nick pretty much hits it on the head, it is as equally difficult for controllers as it is for "easy head shots" on keyboard and mouse players. Keyboard and mouse is certainly more precise for fps's no doubt, but dont try to lessen the skill required to be a good player on keyboard and mouse is what i am taking issue with.

Ahhh right soprry i think you miss the point im making Simon ... A int comparing the players that use either ie one over the other. Not saying one has more or less skill than the other. What Im saying is that there is a bigger difference on them ... ie the poorer guys on keyboard will still be able to aim sonewhat cos the mouse is more precise ie the poorer player will still get head shots .. maybe not as regular or as quick of the mark as the more skilled player but can defo sometimes still get them in. Poorer players on a pad will struggle to hit the side of a house let alone a head shot !! this is massively upped when it comes to snipers MASSIVELY. what im saying is the pad will make a bigger margin of good to poor players than the mouse will if you know what i mean ?? I supsect if your a better player then it can make it more difficult on a mouse as the gap isnt as wide. But on pad the bridge between a poor player and good player will be greater and the better players will come out more on top. Basically what im saying is that on a pad I can boss lobbies lol !.....against other pad players obv.

does that make my point any clearer of have i just muddied the waters more ?!

Fair point delboy, but i will say i still disagree. My point is controllers are difficult for the skilled as well as the not so skilled players to the same degree that m&k is "easier" for all players.

But lets leave this here as i dont think either will change our minds, and lets be honest its a pretty boring conversation

for eg when i put my mrs on the mouse she was actually able to get hit markers (never any kills mind you!) but on a pad she cant ... not even close, its shocking really lol ! her excuse is that "the gun just moves all over the place ... i cant control it" I promise that is a true example and she has only ever played on consoles (never a pc) but she is not a gamer ... far far from it lol .... lol ... lol ... lol sorry i pictured the mrs trying to play !!

Its a good test to use as we are all now redundant as we all game and using either pad or mouse is like 2nd nature to us but everyones' (ok well most peoples mrs) are utter noobs who suddenly lose all dexterity as soon as the title screen loads up !

agree with that Simon ... basically what im saying is taht i prefer pads cos as a skilled decnt player it makes me look better. Without blowing my own trumpet iv always been a damn decent FPS player (it was my diet growing up ever since Doom/wolfenstein then moving onto goldeneye.

On a mouse I am good to very good... on a pad I can be a fookin demon ! the pad has a bigger displacement for skill levels and is why i prefer it .... If im better then i want it to show !
