Good morning folks.
Well, it's that time again. The transfer window closes at 11:00pm which means Leicester have around 17 hours to complete their last transfers of the summer and it looks like it could be a busy day.
UPDATE:
So the latest at 1pm is this:
Leicester have agreed a fee with Sporting Lisbon for Slimani. He has left the Algerian training camp to fly to Italy for a medical.
Leicester are still in negotiations with Sporting regarding Silva. The Sun is reporting that Leicester have agreed a fee of £38.5m (!!!!) but, as it is The Sun, it's best to take it with a pinch of salt.
City have also made an enquiry for Monaco forward Guido Carrillo, according to The Guardian. There are also links with Jonjo Shelvey at Newcastle and Yohann Cabaye at Crystal Palace, but these are not from reliable sources and are probably rubbish.
Leaving the KP is Gokhan Inler, who is joining Beskitas, whilst Leo Ulloa could also leave if the Slimani deal is successfully concluded. Matty James has also been linked with a loan move to Hull.
Stay tuned, it could be a long day....

What were his comments on Spurs and Liverpool's transfer activity?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Actually he said both of those clubs should have done better in the window....
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Well I agree with him there, I'm not impressed at all by their signings but only time will tell who had the best window.

I take it there wouldn't be promotion to, or relegation from, such a league?
------------------------------------------------------------------
Not from League position, entry would be based on turnover but more importantly on your saleability to Sponsors etc.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
This.
So the likes of Chelsea, Man Utd, Juventus, Roma and City were in talks with the American guy who runs the international championship club about a break away league. It's been discussed seriously a number of times, to the point where UEFA have been forced to now bring in new competition rules for the CL from 2018 guaranteeing both additional places to some countries and also that 4th place in England would now automatically go into the group stages.
Man Utd in particular have been very concerned with getting some kind of guarantee that they will be in the CL every single year. This of course ramped up massively when they blew a load of money under LVG and Moyes and failed to get into the top 4.
Their argument is basically that people want to see the biggest clubs in Europes competition - and the big clubs should be guaranteed to be in the CL. UEFA didn't bow to that, but had to make competition changes to protect against a super league until at least 2021.
But they are only delaying the inevitable. The fact is, people want to watch he likes of man utd and Real Madrid play each other every year in Europes top competition. Imagine if you could guarantee that and form new rivalries each season......
You could even bring in South Americas top clubs like Santos and Flamengo into it.
The other thing to bear in mind is that the Chinese league is seriously threatening to take on Europe....
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The larger issue is the Clubs left behind will have their revenues slashed and Clubs could disappear left right and centre.

As a side note, apparently Danny Drinkwater wants Jason Statham to play him in the upcoming Vatdy film.

He'll get David Platt from Coronation Street and be happy about it.

Possibly. But it may end up being better and more interesting for fans. Maybe even cheaper tickets. As long as the clubs are ran properly

It could of course but with so many players on high earning long term contracts the likelihood is that Clubs would be caught out and the chain reaction would go down the leagues.

Any competition that doesn't allow entry based on merit isn't a competition in my eyes.
Just fake sport. Entertainment. Like wrestling.
If they ever made a European completion that wasn't based on merit, I'd reject it entirely.

Yes I probably agree but it could happen where Some team did finish say 3rd above Man U.
Then what an embarrassment just at the time of forming the super league

I think Stoke had a good window and it could only have been bettered if they'd signed Bony on a permanent basis. Albino as usual had a distinctly mediocre window. Which is average for us. Expect Tony Pulis to depart.

Albino! Be about right!
