Would you want Diego Simeone as coach

Spanish newspapers are reporting that Simeone will quit Atletico at the end of the 2017 season.

How would you feel if it worked out in such a way that Wenger quits at the end of that season and Simeone would take over at the Emirates?

Personally, I would welcome it.

Yeah easier challenge that what he did for Atleti.

Sign a striker and a couple of more defensive mids to play out wide and Simeone would have all he needs with the Arsenal squad.

Laughable to suggest it'd take five years to get Arsenal back to their current level.

Bravo dj for trying to take slight hyperbole in order to make a thread.

Simeone would have a very different challenge at Arsenal even if you ignore that he would have to adjust to the league like anyone else.

You cannot compare what happened with Rioch and Wenger. Player transfer fees weren't ridiculous, there was no Bosman and there were no billionaire owners. And Fiszman/Dein were far more willing to invest their own money compared to Kroenke.

*that is if you ignore that Wenger inherited a division winning defence.

Thats shows a complete lack of understanding of what Simeone has done.

Not really. You're overplaying the style issue. One of the biggest things lacking at Arsenal that Simeone brings is instilling belief in his players. It's not like Arsenal are Barcelona and all the players have a very specific attacking style of play ingrained into them.

Simeone won't go to Arsenal anyway. But it's a pretty dumb suggestion that it'd take five years to get Arsenal to their current level.

In that case why isn't everyone doing it. In fact why isn't anyone coming near to what Siemone has achieved. Closest I suppose is Klopp but he only had one behemoth to deal with.

I think you also underestimate how much control Wenger has had at Arsenal from controlling every youth level to negotiations to control over all scouting networks. Fergie never had that much control. Wenger sat in on the interview of the CEO ffs. We haven't had a technical director for almost 10 years!

Does Simeone even do the buying at Atleti? So how do you know that he can takeover to scout, identify, and negotiate for players he wants? Has he ever dealt with agents?

Because Simeone is one of the finest managers around.

Right so because Simeone doesn't do everything Wenger does he cannot coach Arsenal to be better than you currently are? Don't think Arsenal need the wholesale changes you're suggesting for Simeone to create a competitive team. Even if you do the chances of it needing five years to get to your current level is still ridiculous. We'll never know, though.

Simeone is one of the finest coaches around. There are very few old style managers left. Even Pep isn't one but at least he comes to clubs who already have a philosophy similar to his. Why do you think Pep has turned down Chelsea continuously?

Simeone works with players whose work rate put all of ours to shame. So of course he will have to buy. And he will then have to contend with zero football men at board level.

I think you don't realise what goes on at board level in a football club so lets leave it. I accept as I suggested before that my 5 years for hyperbole. He may not ever succeed at Arsenal. Some managers suit certain clubs.

of course i'd want him.
