Austria bans the Burqa

People need to understand this isn't a right wing or a left wing political debate. It is about concealing one's identity and public safety. In the western societies there are liberties and constitutional rights granted to everyone but within general guidelines based on common law. A person's identity mustn't be covered by anything or for any reason (including culture/religion).

Too bad our MP's lack the balls to pass this law

You need to ask Abu. He's read some books after being a drinker/womaniser so he's ITK on Islam.

What the hell is a Sabah like Hamza and Assad Allah ?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Sahabah were companions of the Prophet. I suppose the equivilant would be disciples in Christianity

Hamzah itbe name of one of the first people to become Muslim, he was Muhammads uncle and a warrior. Assad means Lion so Asaas Allah means lion of Allah.

You should try reading a couple yourself. You don't seem to anything about the religion you profess to follow.

Oh and just FYI. Abu Hamza is a kunya rather than a name.

Abu hamza would mean father of hamza and would not be my name

Your comment would be in response to my mentioning Hamza rahimullah. A sahabi and uncle of the Prophet

In Islam mocking the sahabah ajamieen is tantamount to kufr.

comment by Pranks-So I turn 60 this year, my missus doesn't let me drink so there won't be any beer. She hits me if I protest, so I spend most of my time in the gym working on my puffy nipples and saggyy chest. (U6283)

My point Zlat was that the religion was too confusing, even for its followers and therefore open to interpretation / manupulation by nutters
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Rdd I see your point but disagree. I don't think religion is confusing in itself.

What does confuse it is people "pretending" to be religious whilst following their own whims and desires

See my point earlier about women priests. Not saying agree with it or even I agree or disagree.

This is why even if we are not religiously inclined we need to explore and educate ourselves on religion. And no not to become a believer but so we can challenge

From an Islamic perspective, purely as I am Muslim, in one hand you have that woman on that TV programme saying she doesnt need to pray but writes letters and is a Muslim as Islam is a heart thing. Then you have the fundamentalists like say Hama's who use Islam as their reason for nationalism etc. Both are talking BS and Islam is clear on how to be Muslim its belief in the heart and actions, not praying is non Islamic and so is nationalism. The verses and hadith for this are many and simple. As simple as those who don't pray/do nationalism are not one of us.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Afternnoon Zlat,

We spoke of literal meaning from the qoran and bible before, and I know what you are saying, as I struggle with bible based reforms Christianity at times.
You say Hama's use Islam po!itically and are wrong, whilst the woman on TV cherrypicks her notion of Islam, and that is where it gets so complex....individual lives and opinions.A once size fits all islam or christianity is utopian, as we are different people.
For example, the bible says man should not lie down with man, and I have two gay brothers, so I have a quandary.
I was born again in my teens after prayer, reading, going to church, but some evangelical Protestants here tell catholics and other Christians that not being born again leads to hell?Again, I have a problem, as my wife is Catholic, and many in my family and friends and work are catholic, so do I say, you are going to hell.Should I tell you, a Muslim, that you must be born again, as the bible says so?
You claim Mr Chelsea, who I did not know was Muslim until today, is not a Muslim, and neither is Mayor Khan, but that is not for you nor I to determine...God or Allah judges us!

My brother had a civil partnership with a Dublin guy, and now once Catholic Eire is pro same gender marriage.I was too, but now thiink traditionally, that marriage is defined as man and woman in the bible, so if same gender couples get together, give them equal legal rights, but do not redefine marriage, just because celebs say so, or because lgbt are militant, or because it makes Cameron look liberal.
Confusingly, there are bible based gay Christians, who do not. Favour this new gay marriage scenario, and other gay Christians do.
I know black African and Muslim communities also struggle with the whole lgbt issue too.
Now transgender folk are trying to stop us calling boys, boys, and girls, girls....and no mothers now, just parent, in crazy transgender PC teaching.

The world changes, and gender plus sexxual orientation are areas where Muslim and christian may align, against secularism and ultra liberalism.
On abortion, I am close to many catholics theologians, and could I ask, what is the Islamic teaching on abortion?
The evangelicals helped elect the President, and Pence spoke at the March for Life, opposing easy abortion, which some see as a WO and right, ignoring the babies rights, and God.

We may have more in common than we thought, Zlat, and it may open up new conversations in the UK, USA and Europe.

Afternoon blue.

Couple of things mate yes we so have a lot in common and I didn't say Mr Chelsea is not a Muslim. Ignorant maybe yes.

As you say our religions do say man should not lie with man but it also says don't lie with woman outside of wedlock. So the whole lgbt debate is somewhat over focused on

The issue though is not people who choose to do both. The point is saying religion should allow it or its part of religion. It simply isn't. To say I do is not the same as saying God allows it

To pit it in simple terms we are too busy arguing about whether condoms should be allowed but not speaking of the nookie going on a lot of the times.
