The British United?

United have always had a core of British/English players in their first team. This year could be the first in a long while where our starting lineup doesn't feature any english players.

While we still have a decent number of english players, these are mostly squad players with most prominent amongst them already on their way out (Rooney, Carrick etc and possibly Smalling as well).

A 'foreign' united team does not seem right given our history.

was only a year ago that people here were claiming he was the best CB in the league, now he wouldn't get past David May

One of the reasons I love this place.

United fans are particularly fickle and capricious.

Years of unparalleled success has spoiled them so badly that we have the fanbase equivalent of the Eton Boys' Only Child Club, expecting - demanding - perfect football and results week-in, week-out and reserving the right to blame and deride everyone and everything at the club when their team deigns to draw a game.

Ring any bells IOAG?

I think he'd be a much better defender if he simply ran at players on the ball pulling one of those faces, rather than tackling. Surely then he'd pick up less injuries also.

Oh, I don't know. I'm pretty sure I'd injure my face if I tried to emulate him.

and should've kept Webeck over the signing of Martial.

.............................

His 17 goals in three seasons at Arsenal says we shouldn't.

I have to be honest it doesn't sit well with me.

Guardiola fielded a fully foreign 11 last season in 3 of city's last 5 games without even an Englishman getting a second of action even from the bench. Not acceptable at all.

Utd have a tradition and history of bringing through players and giving our young lads a go. I hope that never changes.

City are the most plastic club going now which is ironic as they always labelled us as a brand rather than a club which now is rather funny it has to be said.

English teams over pricing home grown talent is a big issue it has to be added. We seem to still have this arrogance that we are better than we are in this country.

I wouldnt be too sanctimonious about the English thing to be fair, considering Ferguson fielded a team that didn't contain any English players in a derby...

This is funny because when Lingard, Smalling or Rooney starts you all kick off

English players just aren't good enough. That's just the sad fact of the matter
