Ohhh...it gets better; so..Hoffenheim

Any good at set pieces?? Well, from the Liverpool Echo:

"No team scored more goals from set-pieces in the Bundesliga last season than Hoffenheim"...AND they have a great home record!

Well, this is going to be fun on Tuesday

Klopp will set us up well for this..., so a win is likely.

Unless he is wanting to make a point about needing more players as he apparently alluded to yesterday in which case dangling risks to CL qualification in front of the owners might be a more obscure but effective strategy.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Wow. Seriously?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Why not, take an evenly balanced game back to Anfield, where our sieve of a defence will likely concede goals, probably ending FSG's already booked line of CL revenue, might be enough.
You can already see the "it's not me, it's with the owners" stance Klopp is taking, implying he too is getting frustrated with the lack of progress and wanting to frame accountability in those terms.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Can you? I guess if you try your hardest in order to give yourself justification for finding fault with the owners despite all the evidence to the contrary, you can.

No doubt if Klopp didn't want to sell Coutinho and the owners did, the stance would be that of no ambition. You'd then think that doing the opposite would bring praise but no, that's wrong also.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Well it is true we're both formulating a position without the corollary evidence. FSG have entered into a transaction with the club during their tenure, benefitting from a significant pecuniary advantage of buying a club at a market low price in a closed bid, and apart from an investment in infrastructure (partial stadium expansion) have not made the investments in players that would be seen as commensurate with our ambitions. Time and time again we've made the right noises in the market, stressed the need to gain CL in order to attract players of the right calibre and each time (barring a few exceptions) something inevitably breaks in the negotiations. Some might way an overt nievity in 'transfer matters and culture' is to blame and it might be, I believe it goes deeper than that.

FSG are no strangers to investing deeply in squads.
Take a look for yourself at their SEC filings in respect of last financial year, a certain Boston club clearly did not suffer from a lack of player transfer activity, at a not inconsiderable cost.

You'd be better off in the Ropey League. Absolutely no chance of winning the CL with that back line and Jordan Henderson as your captain and central midfielder.

Yeah like we had no chance with Biscan and Traore.

I think you're doing a disservice to idiots to be fair.

They've spent hundreds of millions. I'm not sure why you think they should be spending more. They are a business, not a rich billionaire with a play thing. They are in it to make money. To do so they have to invest in the squad and the infrastructure and increase global appeal and quality in the squad. Which they've done. I really don't understand the issue.

"Some might way an overt nievity in 'transfer matters and culture' is to blame and it might be, I believe it goes deeper than that"

I believe it goes deeper also. Like players preferring to join other more successful clubs and clubs not wanting to sell the one's we want, even with bids of £70m.

Where does this myth come from that the owners haven't spent money on the squad?

From people who peddled that issue when they first came in and it remained to be seen what they'd do. They then continued splashing the cash and despite the figures being readily available to anybody who wants to know on transfer fees and the stand cost, they don't want to know.

Going out will pretty much guarantee top 4 for another season and possibly a title charge. That's how it works, right?
