Considering Our Away Form...

and also considering Sevilla's home form, a 0-0 is a decent result imo. I must be crazy, seeing as 90% of United fans are not happy at all. We knew this is how Jose would set us up to play, this is how he wins two legged ties. He's done it before, and will continue to do it.

Get a decent away result and at home we should be confident. Our home form and results are very, very good.I felt we were comfortable without being overly threatening. We had a few chances. They had a few chances but they didn't break us down very often. Yeah 20+ attempts, but only 2 real saves De Gea had to make.

Martial should have come on earlier. McTominay had a very good game for us I feel.

I don't feel it's all gloom and doom yet. If we lose at home, then of course the dynamic will change. But I am very confident going into the second leg.

Big game against Chelsea this weekend.

I can't be the only United fan feeling this way?!

But we didn’t soak up the pressure well enough, a typical Jose performance wouldn’t have seen us make that many mistakes in midfield and defence. I think we got lucky.

I hope Jose wasn’t happy with that performance.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
That's down to the players. We don't have the midfield we need. This has been obvious even in the last few years of the SAF reign.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The thing that stood out for me last night was the lack of any sort of effort to stop the ball passing through midfield. There was no desire to press.

How much you can put down to Sevilla having a good game I don’t know, and they impressed me.

The best I’ve seen Jose set us up in his time here has been the Europa final, where we played a near perfect game, and Chelsea at home last season.

Those are what I see as typical Jose performances.

I don't think Sevilla played well at all. I think they were there for the taking.

I agree it wasn't the best performance but it was a good result. I am just looking forward to the second leg, where we should really progress with ease

That was a combination of long ball tactics working, and a teenage Ajax side by turning up.

I must be crazy seeing 90% of United fans are not happy at all.

Why? What do you see in these performances that makes you happy? We were cut open at will yesterday and had to rely on our keeper once again to bail us out. If Sevilla had their shooting boots on we’d have been dumped out by the first half. It’s been the same dour crap for 18 months.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
De Gea made one top save, the rest were bread and butter, we restricted them to pop shots for the majority of the time.

in fact it was Lukaku who had the next best chance.

people are making it out we went and scraped a draw against some 3rd division team.

Sevilla have a superb record in Europe.
yes the performance wasnt the best, but we got a result.

would you rather we went gung ho and lost 2-0?

Or won 0-5 away

Or won 0-5 away

______

didn't your lot draw 3-3 to Sevilla away despite being 3-0 up? Mmm

We did, we scored 3 though, but had a mental breakdown in the secodn half and conceded 3.

That result shows the difference yet similaraties (in terms of ability) between us and you.

We are a team designed to attack, hence blowing Porto away, racking up several 3 plus goal wins in the CL, however we are still fragile and when a decent side put us under a consistent amount of pressure we can fall apart like we did second half v Sevilla.

United can't score much v half decent opposition, but won't really have a defensive break down like we do, the tactics make this the reality.

I'd argue our problems are easier (and are on their wat to being) to solve than yours though.

It's well documented we do have issues on our travels and in away games.

We are much better at home. Considering Sevilla have only lost 1 home game all season, I would argue a 0-0 is a good result.

I think the result on it's own is fine, and once you win at home then you're through.

But from what I can see it's the nature of the result that frustrates united fans, like you said we drew 3-3 with Sevilla away, shows they can be scroed against if you have a go, I'm sure many united fans think you have an attack, player wise, that is more than capeable of scoring goals, but you had very few chances last night.

Having said all this though ?I still would prefer not to play united in CL in a 2 legged tie, as Jose knows what he's doing and would frustrate us over the 2 legs.

For all the doom and gloom from some united fans the results overall are good, take them and you position in leage / cups on their own and it's a good season.

This is what I am alluding to more than anything. I won't even try and say the performances have been great or even good.

Although I do think with a more attacking and progressive manager, we would play much better football, but who knows if we would get the results
