Considering Our Away Form...

I must be crazy seeing 90% of United fans are not happy at all.

Why? What do you see in these performances that makes you happy? We were cut open at will yesterday and had to rely on our keeper once again to bail us out. If Sevilla had their shooting boots on we’d have been dumped out by the first half. It’s been the same dour crap for 18 months.

I'm talking about the result. The performance is typical Jose. We are 2nd in the league, great chance to qualify for the 1/4s of the CL, and even semis of the FA Cup.

We all knew what we were getting with Jose.

Plus, we were not cut open at will last night. Don't be silly. They had 2/3 clear cut chances. We had 2 as well.

We would have been happy with a 0-0 if we actually played well and attempted to win the game but couldn't score because the opposition defended really well....but that wasn't the case. We basically just played not to lose and made no effort to try and score. When you spend half a billion, and play like a conference league team, that's not acceptable.

"McTominay had a very good game" ????????? In what sense exactly ? You midfield created nothing and they attacked at will. Him & Matic were crap. In Pogba's defense he didn't do much but his head must be all over the place coming on after 15 mins

McTominay had a very good game for us I feel.

I thought the game passed him by, he's to slow on the ball, gets caught in possession a lot, his passing is woeful, always behind the man, seems to bobble passes or leave them short

he had one decent strike at goal

attempts 25-6..... Don't think your midfield played well considering you had 2 cloggers in there

McT had a job to do, and he did it well. He was near Banega 90% of the time, and Banega is their main man that gets them ticking. He covered a lot of ground and was there in crucial places

what was Matic's job then?

posted on 22/2/18

Matic covered a lot of ground as well. McT's job was solely to hound Banega, and he did that most of the time

About 15 of them were from 20+ yards out, which our defence (rightly) actively encourages when the opposition has the ball in the final third.

DDG made one absolute worldie and another couple of decent saves. The rest he had to make were routine.

They had the better of the game, no doubt. But it was hardly a massacre, and we've come away with a decent result.

there where about 5 balls crossed across you’re box in the second half alone that nobody got near.

sevilla had a half decent striker you’d be 3 nil down.

and is it that good a result when you’ve no away goal?

De Gea made one top save, the rest were bread and butter, we restricted them to pop shots for the majority of the time.

in fact it was Lukaku who had the next best chance.

people are making it out we went and scraped a draw against some 3rd division team.

Sevilla have a superb record in Europe.
yes the performance wasnt the best, but we got a result.

would you rather we went gung ho and lost 2-0?

Very well said. I have said this a million times before but if the likes United, City, PSG & Real are gonna turn football into a lopsided "spendfest" then so be it, that's life & football is business but could you at least have the decency to play some decent football worth watching.
Have you guys noticed that United from Jose down always look bl00dy miserable.... Martial always looks like his dog just died, Jones (when not pulling stupid faces) & smalling look terrified, Lukaku looks like he's just had a death sentence overturned when he scores, Young just looks angry, Matic & rashford are permanently expressionless, Sanchez confused & Mata looks like he's just trying hide behind his own beard..... Wheres the joy ??????

The discontent does not come from the result. I'm tired of looking at each game individually and saying, "oh under the circumstances that was a decent 0-0" to be a top side you have to turn some of those decent away 0-0s into comfortable wins. We show no signs that. For the record I don't believe any manager of a top side sets up not to lose, but away from home in big games we are just toothless, we give opponents encouragement to attack us, which is fine when pose a threat at the other end but we don't. Would be delighted to be proven wrong, but we are not winning a CL or PL title playing like this.

Op is right about the result, it’s good.

We did not deserve anything though. Horrific negative performance and should have been buried. 25 shots against!

Pure shots/shots on target doesn't tell you much. This is exactly what the xG stat was invented for:

Sevilla had the better of the chances but there was only really a goal's worth in it. DDG earning his keep as usual.

Take each game as it comes. Each two legged tie as a whole. This was just half the story. If we don't get through and don't play well second leg, then yes I will be up in arms. 0-0 was a decent result. We didn't lose, didn't concede, Sevilla did not create as much as I thought.

This team scored 3 against Liverpool. 3!
