Hazard — 44 — 8
Mane — 21 — 15
Son — 22 — 9

How would you say his role differs when Kane isn't in the team?

I get the impression that when Kane plays, everything goes through him because he is the captain and talisman. Without Kane it gives the other players freedom to take risks which Son seems to thrive

Yeah that's pretty much what I've seen. It all centers around Kane when he plays and that is sometimes to the detriment of Son

Can't really find anything showing a comparison of sons touch maps with and without kane, or even shots per game with and without kane
It's 5am so am not gonna crawl through match reports to find out myself
He has 20 goals this season, 12 of them have been when Kane isn't on the pitch. I don't think it's a big enough of a difference to suggest it has any tangible effect
Things do run through Kane in a sense, but it's not like we're forcing the ball to him and letting him take 10 shots a game whilst everyone else stands still
His ability to drop off into midfield, linking play and starting attacks by switching play is actually helping Son out ultimately, he's getting him the ball at the end of the day.

Dunno why I find this funny but I was looking for touch maps too with no luck
I'm sure part of it is that Kane just wasn't quite been at his this season, almost like he's doing too much at times and he's always been coming back into fitness. Either way, they're both top players, would be a seriously formidable attack with both on top form together if they can find the right formula.

I said this ages ago and got shot down but Everything goes through Kane in the final third and that is detriment to our game. It is not too dissimilar to England during the Euros where Roy Hodgson had him doing everything.
Poch needs to tell him to just get in positions to score and not to try and dictate the game as we have players like Eriksen, Ali and Sissoko who are ten times better at that (in fact 3 of the best at it in the league)

OP, playing minnows in the group stages against the likes of Crvena Zvezda and FC Porto, sure helps a player to score a few?
Therefore your "that puts to bed" well it doesn't
If you look at minutes played, Mane plated more this CL campaign more than Son.
725 min vs 881 mins
Son's goal ratio to how many games is
181 mins per goal
Mane's
220 mins per goal
That puts that to bed

We also had PSG & Napoli in our group. Oh and calling Porto minnows. They’ve won more EC’s/CL’s than Spurs.

Still, minutes per goal ? If you are a stats fan that's pretty conclusive
