Every footballer wants to win whether they play 6aside or for a huge professional club.
What hurts me is the fact they don't hate not winning. When we dropped the occasional two or three points under Fergie our players looked physically upset by it. Like they don't want it to happen again. That was our secret for success. Hunger. Desire.
When this team loses or drops PTS against rabble like today....they don't care. They clearly don't hurt enough when we don't win and that to me as a fan is simply unacceptable.
Few years ago we lost 4-0 away at Chelsea where the performance was utterly embarrassing. At the end of the game Pogba and a few others were smiling and hugging Chelsea players. Can you imagine Roy Keane, Becks or Scholesy doing that?
And this isn't specific to United either. Arsenal have a bad case of it too. Their players simply don't hate losing enough.
Mentality is all wrong. Need to get rid of the bad seeds and get a real leader on the pitch who won't stand for this pansy attitude. Love Keano to be 25 again. Our current players wouldnt dare go through the motions out of fear of a Keano ballacking.
It's not that they don't want to win.....

I don't get your point still. You don't have to be paid to care about winning. Personal pride should make you give your all. If money is the only thing that motivates you then that's a sorry state of affairs.

Ive just listed the reasons of things other than money that motivated me as an amateur player. Cant you read?
This is absolute ballacks. There's plenty of people who just play pub league level football and give their all every game.

Yes there are.
But also many who it isn't that important. Ive just explained my own experience which is as valid as yours
It's just the crack for many they get out of it.

my point is that the OP states that every footballer wants to win whether they play 6aside or for a huge professional club.
Some more than others.
If you watch Manchester United atm you will understand.

Never met a decent player in all my life who doesn't care about not winning. Sorry my friend but you've lost me.
The only players who don't care about winning aren't really football people. Go to the gym if you want to get fit. Go drinking with your mates if you like the social aspect.
Football and teams sports in general is about rolling up your sleeves and trying to win. Not at all costs where you cheat but still winning is everything.
Sport is a contest between 2 players or 2 teams. The objective is to win. Simple as that.

Because it quite clearly depends on the circumstances. People that play at a high competitive level, that drop down quite a few to play for fun, will naturally not have the same care for winning. I’ll be the judge of that is a good example. Doesn’t mean he’s not a football person or doesn’t care about winning, just that the conditions naturally effect the motivation.

It isn't about whether you get paid or not. It is all about what makes you tick as a person.
Myself for example hated losing. But I was a good loser.
Nowhere near enough of our players hate losing.

That’s what participation trophies do for you

POTN
I was thinking about going into that myself as it is common practice here in the USA but I wasn't sure about the U.K. and the rest of Europe.

Do you reckon Zlatan cares about winning?
Do you reckon Beckham cared in the US?
I've known guys who have dropped down a few levels and still had that competitiveness in them.
I've honestly never met somebody that plays sport and doesn't care about winning.
Perhaps that's how it feels when you get above a certain age?
Nobody likes to play sport and lose all the time surely?
Losing is not fun.
