Has Ed Woodward failed?

Seeing how this subject is never mentioned I'm going to do so now and ask the question.

Has Ed failed?

He could well have tried his best but during his tenure the club has gone from Champions to 6th place. Other clubs are also catching up to us on the commercial side as well.

Our last season as Champions had five of the clubs who finished above us in 2018/19 nearly immediately below (with the exception of Liverpool who finished 7th behind Everton) so it's really poor on our behalf to have all of them overtake us.

My take is that is hasn't been good enough but what say you?

Nope what? I asked the guy for facts in support of his claims. He provided newspaper speculation.

You haven't provided much in the way of evidence either. For example, I quoted Moyes being surprised by the Mata signing. You gave your own opinion on what he meant. Where is the evidence for your interpretation of what he meant?

I linked to papers saying we were interested in signing both Baines and Fellaini, and then another that's a few weeks later that were bids being rejected for the pair (with quotes from Everton in them). The latter shows that the former "speculation" was correct. Yet you dismissed these.

Jose himself complained about not getting signings in and labeled himself a "headcoach" when it happened. You have dismissed this as well (do you know the difference between the a manager and a headcoach in football?).

Where are your facts to back up your own claims. You didn't post any.

According to Moyes, we couldn't even sign Matic from Benfica. His quote just says he didn't want Fellaini to be his first signing. Nothing mentioned about the delaying the bid. Nor that he didn't want him.

Its you stating opinion as fact. I'm simply pointing out they aren't facts and that all you have provided is newspaper gossip.

Exactly. He wanted him but it to be his first signing, hence the delay.

A delay that proved to be costly for a signing that should have not happened.

It happens. I cant wait to see how much credit you give Ed when he makes a ton off the sale of pogba.

I have never stated my opinions as fact. More than my opinions have more weight than yours, something you have never been able to back up.

Fellaini was signed when he could have been cheaper. That's on both Ed and Moyes.

So you thinks Ed should have signed Fellaini 1st despite Moyes wishes ?

I don't think Fellaini should have been signed at all. Though that's not what we're discussing.

Ed should have put a time limit on Moyes's "wish" if we were going to sign him anyway. And we all know how that turned out.
