The club looks better by supporting a young player who made a mistake under tough circumstances. Doing it absolutely the right way.

That's a valid point Lubo

This lad did wrong and needs to learn that he is responsible for his actions. The club should accept this and realise that they have a duty to ensure their players are fulfilled for a full working day.
Send him off with an independent to walk the mountains in North Spain and learn a bit of life elsewhere and contemplate and talk and understand the value of life. Plus do some charity work.
He will be fine for life if he accepts this and become a better person. Lufc should realise his future is more important than his current

The club should tell him the tale of Tony Kay,
Peter Swan and 'Bronco' Layne of Sheffield Wed,
banned for life in the 1960s for fixing matches...
If the club are familiar with that scandal?

He didn't fix matches. He betted on games that he wasn't involved in.
A ban from playing is fair. From training? Absolutely not.

I didn't say he fixed matches, I was alluding to that
1960s scandal as an example of wrong doing...

He's a naughty boy but he aint no Barney Curley.
There could be 100's more out there doing exactly the same but using family/friends accounts rather than their own.

You drew a disproportionate comparison of a different sort of incident from a completely different era and from a vastly different governing body. What exactly is meant to be drawn from it?

The dangers of betting on any sport that a player is
involved with, would have thought that would be
obvious to you...I can refer to a different era or different
circumstances if I so desire, my choice....
A rather pedantic response from you I thought.

Jordan Stevens better be careful. Doesn't he know that some Roman gladiators were executed for trying to throw fights for wealthy patrons? He's going down a dark path.
