I was asked to review the Arctic Monkeys gig (more like concert) I went to last night, so I'll try and link it into football and more importantly Town to make it appropriate for this site...
First of all, in terms of their live performance they were decent, not outstanding. It seems they're more suited to smaller venues (I saw them a few times before they were big) and a bigger venue just didn't suit them. Perhaps that begs the question had Town beat Posh and gone up to a higher level, would they have been able to cope against better teams?
The main thing I took from last night was the massive lack of security. 7 or 8 scraps broke out with nobody there to seperate the fools, as well as groups of girls getting pushed and squashed to the point of tears and having to fight their way out because they didn't feel safe. I took my girlfriend who's obsessed with Alex Turner so we got there early to get a good view, but she requested to move further back because she was getting destroyed by the bouncing chavs around us! Perhaps this begs the question what was the match where the atmosphere was so volotile that perhaps you or someone you were with didn't feel safe?
Overall a rather unfulfilling night saved only by Alex Turners abilities to get the home crowd rocking and the sing-a-long songs such as Mardy Bum which really were outstanding when sung by everyone in attendance...

I've seen Maiden too Myth,96 I think it was,without Bruce, Blaze Bayley on vocal duties.I didn't know Maiden had ever played Huddersfield,wish we had a decent place in Huddersfield to see bands.

NOFX, Bad Religion, Offspring, SLF, Meteors, Guana Batz, New Model Army, all have a bit of a mosh pit where everyone gets stuck in, But as soon as someone goes down they are pulled straight back up by whoever is nearest to them, Never seen any proper scraps break out, Bit of skirmishing, But nothing that does not sort itself out.
I would have to say having seen them on numerous occassions that the Inspiral Carpets were by far the best live band i have seen, Closely followed by the (proper) Stranglers.
Both had strong spines in their teams, A good drummer at the back, A good man up top, And a couple of flair players.
