The King of Belgium

There was news yesterday that Leicester's Belgian sister club OH Leuven have signed Leicester City confirmed hero Andy King.

It'll be interesting to see how this turns out for both them and him. It's been evident that King hasn't settled down to anywhere after his Leicester career came to an effective end, despite loan deals in the Premier League, the Championship and Scotland. I hope he can find some solace at Leuven, thinking of it as kind of an extension of Leicester City. It may even be a good move stylistically for him as he should have the technique to cope with the different football over there.

Ultimately, I become ever more convinced that King's eventual role should be as Birch's successor. He wouldn't be like-for-like of course as he's a different person with a different character, but he is known to be excellent around the club, a model pro, good at talking to both fans and up-and-coming youngsters on a personal level. But for now, I hope he finds some enjoyment again in Belgian football.

P.S. There are also rumours that Benkovic is being linked with Leuven as well. Could be an excellent player for them if his glass legs hold up.

It's interesting to imagine the scene, actually.

Mills: "Did you see that!? He headbutted me!! He actually headbutted me!!!"
Bamba: "He sure did, Matt. He sure did.
...
What's for dinner?"

You know, thinking about it, it's amazing that Vichai kept him on after this. Regardless of any circumstances, in most jobs around the country you'd be fired.

It really says something about what Vichai thought of Matt Mills too.

Mersey - I understand that was a Ben Marshall interview. Said that Pearson nutted Mills but intimated that Mills deserved it.

That’s the one Dunge. Also referenced by Mills himself.

Marshall comes across as a man that struggles to manage himself. Clearly had a level of talent but struggled mentally. Difficult to say how much of that was self inflicted but he definitely struggled with the pressures of the game.

An interesting interview though.

On this, I think this was Pearson’s way of showing authority at a time that was needed. By Marshall’s account, it sounded like Mills “deserved it”.

What is interesting as a debate though is should you ever be fired in football for fighting? Now l, I’m sure we’ve all played football to a level abs you always end up clashing on the pitch, even with friends. You come off the pitch, understand it’s the heat of the battle abs move on.

In professional football it’s not different. If players were sacked for fighting we wouldn’t have any left!!!

But it that ok? Should we expect football to be a confrontation free world?

I’m not sure it’s possible.

It's not quite the same as two players squaring off though, Pearson was the Boss.

What would have happened if Mills headbutted Pearson ( assuming he survived afterwards of course)

The same as what happened. Bye bye.

I’m no condoning headbutts here by the way. Just suggesting some level of physical head butting is inevitable.

Mersey - the heat of the battle abs - is this where players pull off their shirts (eg Akinbiyi) when they score a goal or something more dubious?

To be fair, I’ve wanted to head butt a fair few people at work in my time
