Arteta once again did not name Aubameyang in the match squad and again refused to comment on whether Aubameyang had a future at Arsenal, Aubameyang for his part sent his Christmas tweet with the hashtag #FamilyFirst, clearly indicating that he is not apologising and regardless of when he said he would travel back he is going to do what he wants if it suits his family better.
I don't see this getting resolved any time soon and if Arsenal can sell Aubameyang in the January window I believe they will - unfortunately his enormous salary may make that impossible and we really do face the prospect of having another "Özil situation" on our hands. 🤦♂️
Arteta is under no pressure to reintroduce Aubameyang because of late he can't hit a barn door and the brilliant ESR is well ahead of him - ESR can't get a start either because the front four are linking up and pressing so well.
Ironically Lacazette who is looking to leave too appears to be indispensable to the success of our current setup and precludes Aubameyang returning as the centre forward because Aubameyang cannot link the attacking options up like Lacazette.
If Aubameyang, Pepe, Kolasinac and Leno (who's clearly pi$$ed off) could be offloaded in the January window it would be great to finance a couple of new acquisitions in midfield and attack but I suspect their salaries preclude ANY of them leaving. 😒
Both Arteta & Aubameyang double down....

Auba was the better option when nobody else was scoring goals.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Auba was also the reason we didn't gel as a team. He is unable to play as a central striker
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He wasn't THE reason, no.
You're an odd fish, castor. You've been complaining about our championship level midfield for years, but now we're playing well it's because of lacazette.

It's still a championship level MF but with the options we have, Xhaka and Partey are the best options and Laca is the best option up front.
MF needs to be revamped as I don't even think Partey is all that and yes we need new personal up front

All I ever said in my comments here was that Lacazette's role in our upturn in form has been overstated, it's more down to brilliance from our youngsters. I still said he was good when he came in to start recently and just that in the last couple of games his performances have tailed off a bit which is fair.
Dropping Aubameyang now was the right decision after he let the club down, especially as captain but Martinelli is the one that has really replaced him and made the difference Imho, he deserves more credit.
We've had Lacazette at the club for plenty long enough to know his link up play is fairly average. If someone really thinks there's something special about that aspect of his game you'll be blown away by the link up play of our next striker - I'm sure.

When you tell the whole world that some players are 'dead wood' by your actions, why would any interested club be willing to give you money or in fact even their wages for them?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Well obviously I don't think that potential club buyers are hanging on my every word - so I can be truthful. 😎
If I was Arsenal football club I would be bullsh**ting about realising that they are looking for a new start because they are keen to get more game time and that Arsenal will reluctantly let them go.

Not the fans. We have the right to moan and groan cause lets it face it we are fans and mostly nuts.
I was talking of the club and specifically Arteta. Going after players in public is unedifying. Its better to handle all problems inhouse and then quietly sell the players. No one the wiser.

I agree, a lot of our recent business has been a bit too public but we did spunk 60M on Auba when it was well documented that he was causing issues at Dortmund

I would agree with you but the problem was Arteta felt that Aubameyang's indiscretions had got to the point where for the sake of the integrity of the players as a group he had to relieve him of the captaincy - you can't do that quietly.

Not sure about that. For example, Auba was constantly visiting his mum, so you could have made the excuse that captaincy duties were too much and given him the option of stepping down. Then agreed to sell him quietly. There would be no way Auba would have made any noise for the fear of looking like a disruptive figure for his next club. In fact have you heard anything from him?
posted on 28/12/21
Yes we have heard from him, he put out his "#FamilyFirst" hashtag tweet which was a clear dig at the club. There has been no apology at all.
I don't agree that removing the captaincy could have been done quietly, the press would have pushed and pushed and the problems would have leaked.
I think the fact that before the controversy Aubameyang was so terrible is the real problem in selling him - let's hope Newcastle are desperate enough to take the chance and Aubameyang goes for it.

Seriously? Auba could have spun this and gone to town on Arteta. As for an apology to whom? For arriving late from visiting his mother? This is what I mean. In the real world nothing is black and white unlike on the Internet. I am not really trying to defend Auba here rather than criticising the naivety of the way its been handled.
It is obvious that Arteta does not see Auba has captain now and I don't blame him for that. But if you really want to sell him than be wiser on how to handle these type of players. If we are to progress a lot of our youngsters are going to grow these egos and we are going to have to buy huge ego types in the future.
