Train Strike FA Cup Final

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-65410800

Of all the people who require a salary increase, train drivers who average £59k are not high on the agenda.

Deliberately targeting public events is going to annoy the public even more.

The FA should hold it at Goodison Park
----------------------------------------------------------------------
They should play the Cup Final at OT.

Split it down the middle. Make City the home team. Give them the home dressingroom and their fans the Stretford End. Game on.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Would be epic, and one for the history books.

Like the FA will give up the income for Wembley though

The only way to get a good raise is to do the following things

1. Get a new job
2. Threaten to quit (nicely of course)
3. Strike

If the train staff got 4% I've no qualms with them striking.
4% is a pay cut.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It’s 4% for two years. So an almost £5k pay rise.

I’m all for helping people with the cost of living, but somebody turning down a £5k increase when already on £59k, whilst choosing not to work deliberately on big public events pishes me off.

If the whole country has an 8% pay rise, guess what? Inflation continues at 10%+.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
guess what? It will continue at 10% if nobody gets a payrise.

I understand that the train driver has a slightly longer course (not by much however) and I think you need to pay for the train driver course and not the bus driver one so I can see the discrepancy there but not to the extent of more than double. like I said even conductors get more than bus drivers.

I just dont see there being much a difference in their jobs and certainly not enough to warrant the discrepancy unless Im missing something.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Braking a train is nothing like braking a bus, it takes a great deal of skill and experience. A driver who gets this wrong and passes a red signal even by a few feet has this on his record for his whole career.

Nah, wholesale costs of energy and food have decreased. The prices now will be the new norm.

What should’ve happened, is instead of avoidable windfall taxes the government should’ve capped energy at a fair rate and a lot of the mess we’re seeing now wouldn’t have been nearly as bad.

We have an issue though, during a time of economic growth over the past 20 years we’ve seen business owners and shareholders make a lot of money whilst wages have increased at a much slower pace. This needs resolving.

I just don’t think now is the time to do that, the county and economy need some stability.

Not sure why that's funny, home field advantage is a well known and studied phenomenon. Whichever way you cut it they would still feel at home and have an advantage.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You have just googled that. Home field. FFS Its a pitch. You think that the smell of the turf is a factor?

Show me a link to the evidence about the nuanaces of the turf as a home advantage
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Where did I say turf? Turf is not the same as pitch.

Clearly you know little about football and are just being a pratt, so adios.

Of course you could redeem yourself by backing up your assertion that United would not have an advantage at home if you changed the fan
distribution to be equal.

That would include things like turf, pitch width, familiarity, psychological factors making no negligible difference whatsoever.

Or you could just admit you got picked last for your sports team at school and have no clue what you're on about when it comes to competitive sports.

and look! United's and City's pitch are exactly the same size you diqhead

You really just do not get it do you. That's one example of setting the pitch up to give the home side advantage.

Are you seriously telling me United are so stupid they wouldn't have put money into create a home edge in the pitch setup?
