Donny Van de Mount?

As per Sofascore, Mason Mount played 85 mins yesterday. He had 27 touches of the ball, and completed 15 passes out of 18 attempted. To put it into some sort of perspective, Christian Eriksen played 24 minutes and completed 16 passes out of 17 attempted. (I haven't verified how accurate these stats are, but the eye test tells you it probably isn't far off...)

I really dont want to draw any big conclusions after 2 games, but the early signs aren't good. Like most, I've been confused by this signing from the outset - he just didn't seem like the profile of player we needed at all. His off the ball work was good in the first 30 mins which I assume was a big part of the reason we signed him, but we simply cannot afford to have another attacking player who is completely unproductive in possession - or in Mount's case, seems to go missing completely.

Whatever Ten Hag's plan for him was, it hasn't worked in these first 2 games and I'd go as far as saying it's been pretty disastrous. It's the single biggest problem in this side at the moment and it needs to be sorted by next week before it derails this season completely. Whether that means bringing Eriksen back into the fold against Forest I don't know, but something has to give there.

Wonder who’s next when Ten Hag is sacked. Eventually we’ll get back to SAF like when you get back to the first penalty taker in a long shootout.

I gave ETH two years when he started, by that time things will align, chelsea will sack poch for only coming in 2nd, and he will take the reign at utd, fufilling his destiny.

Poch would have such a culture shock coming from Enzoceido to BruMount

Mount isn’t a midfielder, and if you argue he is, he certainly isn’t the midfielder we needed.

Maddison was available for less - bizarre signing from United, the guy is no better than Antony

Won't matter who they put in charge. The structure at the club is still all wrong.

Ed Woodward was a disaster that lasted 9 years. Their solution? Give the job to his Uni mate and number two. 😂

He's definitely not the player we needed.

ETH is on thin ice now. Very thin ice as his signings are threatening to set up back another 3-4 years.

All gone a little wrong for Mason during the last year or so. Form during that time has not been great, whether he gets back to, and builds on that level is anybodies guess.

Can't help but thinking off field issues have played a part in that, seems to think he is already a superstar and image is a huge factor, just shook my head when he took the No.7 shirt.

Many say that Tony Mount has a lot to answer for in the advice he has given his son , and unfortunately seemingly was a big factor in burning bridges at the club when Mason wanted nothing but to stay.

Feel a little sorry for the lad given he had been at Chelsea for so long but I think at the crossroads now and has a huge price tag and wages to justify to United fans who i think are probably right to ask what was the point of signing him , definitely better options available for the price.

Ten hags a good coach, but his signings have been hit and miss (mostly miss). He really favours going for players he's either worked with before, or shares an agent with.

Bizare transfer to begin with. I don't think Eth is gonna be In charge long term. I just don't think he's good enough, his singings are just bizarre mostly.

The Glazers have become an easy excuse for our horrendous transfer dealings over the past decade.

ETH has spent 364 quid since he took over. Only Chelsea have spent more since he took over and unlike the Chelsea managers, ETH has actually had a say in who we signed.

It was ETH's decision to spend 140m on Antony and Mount. Granted he has no control over the fees but he made it clear to the board these were his first choices.

Why didn't he use the money to prioritise a top class CM instead? Why have we ended up with an unproven 19 year old striker despite spending a third of a billion?
